I have a 20 yr old Lodge Cast Iron skillet. It has been used & abused by 10 children who never completely cleaned off food particles, never seasoned it properly and had soaked it in the sink with soap, so I had rust too. I have done the salt bath on the stove to get off the food, used SOS pads and nothing worked to clean my skillet. I also seasoned it with the food stuck on and the skillet ended up being a disaster. I was ready to throw it out & buy a new one. I came across these 3 items on Amazon to clean, scour and oil my skillet. Oh, but it is expensive, I thought. Well, a GOOD cast iron skillet is expensive too. So I thought I would give it a try. What did I have to lose, I was going to throw it out anyway. Oh my gosh!!! I cleaned it with the soap with a chain mail scrubber. Not too impressed with the cleaning. Next, I used the salt, hot water (a lil bit) and that chain mail scrubber. I have arthritic hands so I can't use a lot of pressure scrubbing. I was AMAZED at how clean the skillet got. I thoroughly rinsed it and couldn't believe there was NOTHING left on the skillet, not even the rust! I dried it completely and again was SHOCKED that I didn't have any black or brown residue left on the towel from drying. Then, I used the oil, just a bit like it says and spread it with a paper towel all over the pan, inside and out. I let that soak in while sitting it on a paper towel. It sat overnight. In the morning, my skillet looked brand, spanking new!!! No, I haven't cooked with it yet; but I will update when I do. All the other times I had "seasoned" my skillet, food would get stuck everywhere on it. So I am looking forward to seeing if this oil actually keeps the food from sticking.

We were given some cast iron pieces that belonged to my husband's mother and grandmother. They were in good shape but hadn't been used in many years. I purchased this kit to try to clean and refurbish them properly. The products worked great! The soap cleaned them and the scrub got off some of the gunk. The oil is working great to get them seasoned and ready to use. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and the results I've gotten.

Easy to use

This is an amazing set for keeping cast iron in tip top shape. Hubby has also started using these on his blackstone grill and they worked just as good for him too. The lemon smell for the soap and scrub makes using these a delight. The scrub and soap leave no funky taste or smell once rinsed from the pan. I use the scrub first, but I use less than the recommended amount on the bottle and add more if the pan still needs it. I use a chain mail cleaning tool along with the scrub and know when to job is done the pan is smooth and most of the scrub has dissolved in the little bit of warm water that was in the pan. The amount of water will depend on the size of the pan but I typically add about enough to not even cover the entire base of the pan. Rinse and then go to next step. I follow this up with a small amount of soap and a wet sponge. Again just adding enough water to aid the soap but not dilute it so much it becomes ineffective. Rinse and then throughly dry the pan. I use about a 1/4 tsp of oil to do my entire 13 inch frying pan with a small piece of paper towel. Once this is done my pans look like the well loved cast iron pans they are without losing the hard earned seasoning they deserve. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is the size. For the price these size are small. The scrub and soap will go first and if I would have used the recommended amounts I would have run out very quickly even if hubby wouldn’t have used it. While I would like to get more, until the price comes down I will have to find something else.

My mom has had a cast iron skillet for ages and I bought this set to give it a clean and season again. She also recently bought a cast iron skillet that stated it was seasoned but not really. I used the products on both skillets and I am so glad I did. They look great and still work well even after washing a bit with the soap which I know most people who own cast iron skillets try not do often because of the “seasoning”. I just have to say, I feel confident now that it looks better, smooth on the cook area and also nice and seasoned still. I would recommend this product to anyone with a cast iron skillet that really wants to care for your skillet. I actually have recommended it to a friend who is dropping by tomorrow. I am going to show her the finished products. LOL. You won’t go wrong by getting this set.

I saw this product and had to have it. I collect and restore vintage cast iron popover pans and Dutch ovens and this product spoke to me. I used it on my most recent pans and they came out great. I will use it from now on all new new finds.

This product really really works!

I love cast iron but let’s face it, it can be a pain to keep clean and seasoned. After using this product, I was thrilled with the results. I’ve rehabilitated some older cast iron pots and polished up my newer ones. This product is great. Highly recommend.

These have worked wonders in restoring my cast iron pan, and keeping it healthy looking. The Salt scrub is fantastic, and the soap works well without harming the coating. The oil applied afterwards smells great and is food safe! I've also used it to oil my wooden-cutting board. This was an excellent purchase and Im very happy with these!

Finally! No more scrubbing like a maniac cleaning blood off of a murder scene to get my pans clean. Wow! The scrub stuff is especially useful. I use it on cast iron and actually for any kind of stained and extra-dirty metal (obviously NOT non-stick stuff lol). It just works, and you need a very tiny amount, so it will last a long time. The oil is great, I leave the pan at a minimum with a little bit of it every time I can see the seasoning getting scrapped, which is only once in awhile for the occasional burnt egg or steak (yikes)... we're all humans! No need for new pans with this, your grandma's one as as good as new again!
