Captain America: Red Menace (Captain America (2004-2011))

A good follow on from 'Winter Soldier Dossier Edition'The writing is just as good, the art remains consistent and the story expands. I have no real gripes here, I just wish Brubaker didn't feel it necessary to throw so many old characters at us in his run. Less can be more!

Being a recent convert to Brubaker's Captain America, I'm slowly working my way through the trades (thought in no particular order). While not as chunky as the Winter Soldier Ultimate Collection, there is still much fun to be had with this Sin, Crossbones and Bucky centric tale. That it doesn't collect quite as many issues is a bit of a disappointment, but at least it does tell a complete tale. And the art is pretty great too.

Like crossbones, Lukin,artwork is incredibleSin is silly and vague how she came to be but she becomes a good character and adds to the Red Skull origin story

Art: Several artists worked on this collection. Perkins' and Epting's art was top notch, as always. But I didn't really like Pulido's and Martin's art, it was very retro, though I understood why it was used for the flashback. Nonetheless, it felt a bit jarring, the transition between the styles. 4 stars.Story: The last third of the book was amazing, full of action and great heroes, both male and female, kicking butt. But! The first two thirds? Slow, oh so slow. Too much time and space given to Lukin/Red Skull and Crossbones and Sin, a lot of talk and not enough action. I wanted to see the Cap going after Bucky, an intriguing cat and mouse game, what I got was the Red Skull plotting and cackling madly in the background. He's mad, Lukin is untouchable, we get it, Mr. Brubaker, move on! 2 stars.
