The Intuitive Body: Discovering the Wisdom of Conscious Embodiment and Aikido

Change your body, change your mind (and how you feel)
This is one of the very good books I have bought this year after attending one of Wendy's seminars in Cape Town. For someone who spends lots of time in her head and latterly realized maybe it's not the best way, this book is fantastic for seeing things differently and getting a better understanding of how changes in the body integrate with changes in thoughts and emotions. And with a few simple basic techniques it's possible to make some real changes, even with longstanding patterns. As with everything, it's all in the practice. I was looking for a couple of practices to follow and there, they appeared and it's not as if this is a new book. But it's truly one that cannot get outdated.

INTERESTing...
Sometimes even only one sentence or one paragraph in a book makes the whole read worthwhile to only one person...I'm in the middle of a mid-life crisis (which means I'll live to be 120!) in which I have basicallylost interest in life (but not suicidally! and not without optimistic curiosity)...Wendy Palmer writes --"How can we cultivate our sense of interest to the point that it becomes a habit to be interested? When we are not crowded in by thoughts of 'what if,' 'I hope that,' and 'if only.'Instead we are poised, soft, and open to what will arise. We are simply interested in life."That may sound simplistically simple to you but the subsequent sub-chapters on"The Fine Art Of Questioning," "The Buoyant State of Curiosity,""The Don't-Know Mind" and especiallythe entire following chapter on"Not-Knowing" were, for lack ofa better way to say it -- ofinvaluable "interest" tothis reader.

Spiritual journey and growth
Every page is gold! Wendy was able to articulate many experiences I've had along my growth path. This is a keeper. I will return to the pages many times.

Closest thing to a 'bible' for living.
With the exception of Alan Watt's "The Way of Zen", that is.Both are festooned with my underlines & notes; and can not only be read & reread, but can also be opened to a random page for a one minute revisit to good effect. (I have never been a practitioner of Aikido or any martial art).Only objection: in the latest edition someone decided to drop the gorgeous cover illustration of Vajrayyogini for (I guess) a cheesy more modern picture and abandoning the original sub-title that was, "Aikido as Clairsentient Practice".

Would definitely recommend for those wanting to delve further into conscious embodiment ...
Im half way through the book (read in 3 days!) and am looking forward to reading the second half. Interesting, well written and interesting. Would definitely recommend for those wanting to delve further into conscious embodiment and working with your own intuition in different levels.
