Consider VT vs VTi
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. A few weeks ago, I purchased a Vaultek Pro VTi Full Size Biometric Safe. I was drawn to this safe because of the "Biometrics" functionality.I immediately fell in love with the structure and strength of this safe. It meets and / or exceeds all expectations. The phone app that links to the safe is easy to use, has good value add functionality. There are so many great ways to open the safe and interact with it, each user can set up variations that work for them. The one area I had issues was with the biometrics. We're all spoiled with iPhones and apps that have both ease of use and 100% reliability and repeatedly with our fingerprints used for security and opening or financial and other apps. The biometrics on this Vaultek safe are not reliably repeatable like an iPhone. They work, just not all the time, every time. Which if used for home protection safe is a liability. Before writing this review, I communicated with Vaultek with my issues with the biometrics. The Vaultek person was super professional, super helpful offering me help, ideas, an exchange, independant review sites to see how the safe biometrics should reliably work all the time .... These were very good email exchanges in helping me understand the pros and cons of Vaultek's safe biometrics.I think the safe is a winner, I think the biometrics work -- but just not reliably all the time -- I think Vaultek knows all this and subtlety has work arounds in their instructions like loading the same finger multiple times as part of the 20 allowed fingerprints to increase the likelihood the biometrics will function when needed. I think Vaultek will take my input and we'll see what if anything they do with it. At a minimum, Vaultek should make it clear in the instructions that to load primary fingers multiple times.I still give this safe and company a high rating -- quality company, quality customer service, follow up, quality product ...I would suggest to buyers to think about buying the VT (without biometrics) until such time Vaultek makes improvements that allow 100% biometric open each and every time without exception.

Absolutely amazing!!! 5 stars!!!
I did my research before making my purchase and I can honestly say that I love my new Vaultek Gun Safe. I ended up going with the Vaultek PRO VTi biometric gun safe. One bit of information regarding the word “PRO” being on the top safe - it won’t be on the top of the safe like you may see on some of the older safes you may have seen. This is if you’re planning on placing an order now. I was told by customer service that they had to change up the wording a bit on the safe because they found another company using the same “PRO” name. But rest assured that it’s a PRO VTi as you see in the pic I provided where you can see the bottom of the safe and the model number. I wanted to mention this because I was going back and forth between looking at this safe on Amazon and the actual Vaultek website and I thought there was something different but the company is now just calling the “PRO VTi” just the “VTi” now. But it’s packed with all of the same features because it’s the exact same safe - they come in biometric and non-biometric (fingerprint scanner, or no fingerprint scanner). Another bit of very useful information on the accessories is - if you’ve been looking back and forth between the actual Vaultek website and Amazon at the exact same item you may see on Vaultek’s website (until it’s removed) that there’s a wireless Smart Key (rectangular shape) that looks like it comes with, and on Amazon’s site there’s a Smart Key Nano (circular instant access button). The Smart Key NANO (circular) is the new accessory they’re offering in place of the Smart Key (rectangular shaped). You don’t get both. I also found out that in addition to the Smart Key Nano (circular), they also offer a wall mountable biometric smart key (also circular) which looks pretty similar to the smart key NANO that comes standard in the package, BUT you have to have a fingerprint registered for it to work it’s sold separately but this extra accessory is great because of the extra layer of security it has needing an approved fingerprint in order for it to be able to unlock your safe remotely. HOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS. It’s some of the things I found out in my research. BACK TO THE SAFE——— I read in some of the previous reviews that people had issues with the biometric scanner and with it being effective. I can say that I haven’t had any issues AT ALL. And I mean at all. IT WORKS Great. When programming my fingers in between each scan (which each finger programmed has to be scanned 5 times) I moved my finger a little bit so it could catch different angles. This is recommended in the manual. I did this and haven’t had any issues AT ALL. The fingerprint scanner works with a 360 degree capability, so if you program a finger while facing the safe as most people will, and there ever comes a time where you need to scan your finger from behind the safe by sort of reaching over the lid to the scan panel - it will work upside down as well. Even sideways. The fingerprint scanner is amazing as well as everything else about the safe! There is nothing cheap about the safe at all. Not one thing. It’s extremely sturdy, and very well built. It has a built in tamper alarm which will go off if it’s jolted too hard. This safe can hold 2 full size handguns plus extra magazines. OR can also hold 3 compact handguns plus magazines as well, OR 1 full size and 2 compact handguns. I’ll be using it for my Sig Sauer P226 MK25 and Sig Sauer P229. The safe is also compatible with the Vaultek safe app which works great with it and adds another layer of technology, safety and security. With the app you can adjust the tamper alert sensitivity, the interior light brightness. You can even open the safe from the app plus a lot more! One thing I did as soon as I received my PRO VTi was I allowed my older kids to try to break into it WHILE IT WAS EMPTY. I mean honestly if they could get into it I was going to ship it back immediately and get my money back. My oldest son even went so far as to try and use one of my programmed fingerprints I let him get from a piece of tape where he attempted to transfer it to the scan pad. He got the idea from the movie Captain Marvel where Nick Fury got someone’s fingerprint off of a wallet and transferred it to a piece of tape to get out of a room He and Captain Marvel were trapped inside of. Again the safe was COMPLETELY EMPTY, but I did want to see if from a kids perspective they could get it to open. I’m proud to say that the safe didn’t budge - even when I witnessed him placing a very clear copy of my fingerprint on the pad in several different ways. The PRO VTi even deactivated the fingerprint scan pad after several failed attempts where even I couldn’t get into it with my fingerprint until the minimum time limit had passed which I believe is 4 minutes. During that time period if I wanted to get into the safe I had to use the keypad or another method outside of a fingerprint. Simply put - you’re selling yourself short on all you can get out of a safe in regards to safety, features and security if you don’t go with the Vaultek. It’s a great product! Vaultek has different sizes if you don’t need the 2 gun as well. They have the Life Pods, 10 series, 20 series, Slider series, VT series (This safe I’m reviewing), MX series and the RS series. Get the right size for you! No I do not work for Vaultek, but I am a huge fan of their products after receiving this PRO VTi. 5 stars all around!

Surprised
I was slightly nervous about this purchase, but glad that I made it. I typically keep this safe in the trunk of my car. I have a License to Carry a firearm and carry everyday, however there are locations where I cannot legally carry. I prefer NOT to leave my firearm at home nor would I like to just leave my firearm lying freely in my car inside a glove box or otherwise. With the size of this safe, I can store my firearm inside a locked box inside my locked trunk when I enter the school of my kid to avoid breaking the law and feel better that there is another layer of security for my weapon. There are multiple layers of redundancy just in case the fingerprint reader doesn't work such as the unlock function on the smart phone app, number combination, and physical key opener. Great buy! I plan to purchase another for my wife's vehicle.

If you only buy one handgun safe, this is it.
Absolutely fantastic product!! Bullet proof and aesthetic design along with a lot of bells and whistles. I have small kids in the house and had to definitely go with biometric. Set up took only minutes and the fingerprint scanner is remarkably quick - less than one second (I timed it continuously with results at .90 - .98 seconds). Had my wife, several family members and friends try to access the safe with the fingerprint scanner and force a false opening with no luck. I honestly can't say one negative thing about the design or included features. This safe isn't cheap but as with almost everything else in life, you get what you pay for. I'm glad I paid the premium for the piece of mind that comes with this Vaultek safe.
