great planer. Works really well, easy to use, and an excellent price too

This is a great little tool for the price. Simple and easy to use and very effective in removing wood quickly. It kicks out a lot of very fine shavings so an after market containment system would be a useful addition. I also have a Wen pneumatic roofing nailer and I really like that as well. I put over 3,000 nails through it no problem. For the planer, integrating some sort of grip on the front end would be useful. You can use the depth adjustment knob but it’s not designed for that and not comfortable. Overall, definitely worth it and for the cost, it pays for itself after just a few uses. Definitely beats a manual hand planer or sander.

Had a couple of swelled doors. Not a hard use planer. Worked well for houshold doors.

Five stars for the value factor of this planer. I needed to trim down a few doors that were sticking in our second home, and didn't want to spend a ton of money for this one project. For under 30 bucks I ordered this one based on the pretty good reviews. It arrived quickly and I was immediately impressed with eth build quality at that price point. The size and relative light weight of this planer made it perfect for this project. Plenty of power and sharp blades out of the box made the job easy. Too easy on one door as I took off a bit more than needed, but that was all my fault. Now I'm looking for other jobs that need doing so I can break this planer out again. It certainly is not a high end woodworking tool, but for simple quick and dirty jobs like this it is perfect and won't break the bank.

Works great, does the job likes it supposed to. Has 2 reversible blades that cut good. Hooked a shop vac up to it and worked even better and obviously no mess!

Our family has been using Wen products for years. They're sturdy, well-built, function exactly as expected and have an OUTSTANDING user manual that is well written, easy to understand and amply illustrated. (The big guys could take notice - it's so much easier to follow than the tiny phone fonts.) This planer has been amazing - lightly removed the irregularities from a door that got caught in a flood. Now we can decide whether to refinish or cover with a kickplate.

For under $30 this is an outstanding tool. A hand planer is $20. It doesn’t come with a dust bag, no, but again it’s $29. It’s solid and better made than I figured it would be. It is a bit heavier than I’d want but it does have a decently powerful motor in it and makes it smooth to use. The depth knob is large and has nice detents with a satisfying click for each position (0, 1/64, 1/32, 3/64, 1/16). Between each marked position (step) it has a position that is just a line for half steps. Presumably, these would be for 1/128, 1/48, etc. You can change the blade with the included wrench. There are 3 nuts that come off. Each blade, it has 2 opposite one another, is dual sided and can be flipped over once one side is dull. I bought it to plane the top of my doors since my new build has settled over the last 1.5yrs. Within 30 min of having the planer delivered I had 2 doors planed at the top and closing perfectly. This included having to remove one in the basement that had a few inches of clearance to the ceiling (thanks duct work). Since it doesn’t come with a dust bad I duct taped my shop vac hose on and added an extension cord for the planer since the cord is about 7-8 ft long total. Overall, it’s a fantastic electric hand planer that makes short work of smaller pieces of wood. Would be a great buy for a DIYsr or even a pro that doesn’t care if it gets lost or lasts only a year. At $29 it’s a steal!

As others have mentioned, the tool works great. However, the key downside is the lack of a compatible dust bag. It's a shame WEN doesn't use a universal size if they aren't going to produce their own bag.

I purchased this electric planner to make old door fit into existing frames. The planner needs some fine tuning which unfortunately the instructions do not instruct you on how to tune it. As others in the reviewd have pointed out, there are youtube tutorials on how to do this. It requires some minor filing and adjustment and then you will be good to go. Once its tuned, I found the planner cuts straight and accurately. I wish it came with a bag attachment as the filings go everywhere. These can be bought seperately but it would have been nice to have included. Otherwise, this is a great tool for the price point.
