Good book sunk by the lack of a good editor
What a shame - there is a good idea and a good book in here trying to get out. Unfortunately, it is full of script errors and typos, and desperately in need of a proper editor to sort these out and make sure the flow isn't destroyed by some awful topic jumps

The author never dissapoints..
I am addicted to every single book of this author and as usual, he never disappoints. I downed the book in a single weekend.. if you liked it, I suggest you dig into his amazon profile because he has a few other excellent books on the same topic of art..

A good bedside read
Very interesting can dip in and out.

A little disappointing
Not what I expected. It seems it's been hastily put together, full of typos, strange sentences and the topic has not been fully explored. What a shame as the idea behind is great.

A Flawed Perspective
Very disappointing book on a fascinating and important subject, mostly due to the author's lack of critical analysis. It is well presented as you'd expect from a publisher of Phaidon's calibre but the intellectually shallow text lets it down. The art market is known to be permeated with forgeries but Charney never tries to work out what is or isn't genuine; instead he contents himself with quoting other art historians' conclusions and 'historical' texts which is boring and at times demonstrably wrong. Like other academics Charney is far too credulous, hence he lacks credibility himself.
