No Future for CubePro
Good quality built machine, mechanically. HOWEVER, Firmware and Slicer software is unacceptable. This machine is a closed system. You must use their slicer which offers very little control over things like support material. Software decides where and how to place supports. Your only control for support is to switch on/off. Machine reads only .cubepro files. Machine uses 3dsystems filament cartridges ONLY. Over $100/kg for low quality PLA? Yes, and the filament will be broken inside the new cartridge when you open it, requiring you to disassemble the cartridge and then reassemble to use the filament. There is a microchip in the cartridge as well, measuring the use. When it reads empty, that cartridge is done. You cannot refill. On top of all this, the machine has been discontinued AND materials(filament) will cease to be available 3rd quarter 2019.

Solid, Professional-Grade 3D Printer
The CubePro is one of the best multi-extruder printers I've ever gotten to use. It is a very reliable machine, has a huge build volume and can produce some very detailed parts. It's not perfect, though, and there are several areas where I would like to see improvement from 3D Systems in future versions of software, firmware and hardware. The entire experience is definitely geared towards more experienced users, and I do think this is a printer for someone who's been doing 3D printing for a while. It's very large and built with heavy-duty, industrial grade hardware, so it's incredibly durable and powerful, but also a little daunting for a first-time user. The slicing software is also a more "pro" interface, certainly not as cartoonish as MakerWare or Cura. It does all the same functions though, and the advanced options can really let you open up the capabilities of the printer, so that is a big plus for me.The CubePro does multi-color very well, but could potentially handle multi-material better. Currently it prints in PLA and ABS and while it can print in both simultaneously, the temperature presets it runs for such prints are a little cool for ABS and it can warp sometimes. That being said, you can selectively dissolve ABS from PLA - I've successfully done it - so if you can get a multi-material print to come out well you can do some pretty impressive things.Lastly, I would like to see a wider material offering for the CubePro - one of the downsides of a closed system - so that I can print materials like Polycarbonate and Ninjaflex like I can on my Rep2X, which I'm confident the printer could do well - probably better than my Makerbot. I have heard 3D Systems intends to release more materials for it in the future, though, so hopefully that will be as simple as a software and firmware update.

Zero stars. Stay away from this printer.
I purchased this printer so my company could do some rapid prototyping. It hasn't worked properly since the day it arrived. It is incapable of printing any of our files with any degree of accuracy. It is also incapable of even printing their own calibration files. We worked with their CubePro product manager for months who finally admitted that it couldn't meet their own published specifications. They refuse to take back the printer and won't correspond with me any further. We can't use it, but it looks nice.

My thoughts on the CubePro Trio
I have been using a CubePro to print a variety of parts for robots as well as enclosures, mounts for electronics and design objects. This is a great printer for designers, engineers and hard core enthusiasts. As you may have gathered the CubePro comes in several permutations with varying numbers of print heads. The CubePro has one print head, the CubePro Duo has two and the CubePro Trio has three. This gives it the capability of printing in multiple colors and / or materials. One of the first things you will notice and appreciate about the CubePro is the large print volume. This series is capable of printing in a variety of materials as well. So far I have been printing in PLA and ABS and am just about to start printing parts in Nylon. I have had experience with printing in ABS and PLA with other printers in the past but what really sold me on the CubePro is the ability to print Nylon. This is pretty important to me because the robot I am building is quite heavy and I need the durability and strength of Nylon to make a functional prototype.

Super reliable and solid!
This machine is a monster! It's definitely not for the people wanting to build tiny little things. The build volume alone is impressive and I've printed in multiple colors at the same time with no issues. I've used tons of machines and I have to say this one is the most reliable. I would say my print success rate on this machine is about 95%. The times it doesn't finish it's either due to my model not being positioned correctly on the bed or I'm tying too hard to print the impossible. I've taken this bad boy to the limit and it has not disappointed yet so it's well worth it. Do yourself a favor and the only thing I would say is a con for most people (not me!) is that it's HUGE. Make sure you have a space for this guy to sit on. I printed a 40 hour print on this guy at 70 microns and got the most beautiful print out of it. Pros would definitely include it's temperature controlled enclosure, easy to use slicer, build volume! features on the advanced settings are awesome! Printing in ABS is so easy now with the sidewalk feature! If your looking for a machine that is a work horse and will get you great quality prints then this is the one for you.

Don’t buy it!!
Discontinued, and good riddance. What a POS. Slow. Unreliable. Filament errors. Slow. Did I mention it’s slow? Cut myself again installing a filament cartridge. I suspect properly written control software would solve most of these problems but man oh man. Don’t buy this thing!!

works well
Just got this 3D printer in my office. It came on a pallet which was weird but once we got it out of the box and registered online it worked great. The setup was much easier than we expected and the on-screen instructions were pretty easy to follow even without reading the manual. It came with some free files which was nice and we printed those first. We've been printing our own designs all week and haven't encountered any issues. Overall, a very cool product.
