Claymore, Vol. 22: Claws and Fangs of the Abyss

The battle at the Organisation's headquarters continues to deteriorate as multiple Abyssal Ones awaken. With the situation deteriorating Mira is pushed to her limit but some unexpected reinforcements could help turn the tide. Meanwhile the Organisation itself is in trouble as one of its members has his own motives.This is another very entertaining instalment of the Claymore manga. The volume is very action heavy with the aerial battle against Hysteria is a particular highlight but the fight between two Awakened Ones is also very entertaining. The artwork for the series remains very good with the fight choreography nicely done and the designs of the Awakened Ones themselves being very diverse and interesting. With the battle seemingly ending in this volume, it leaves things in an interesting place for the series to continue and I am looking forward to reading further.Overall this was a very solid and entertaining volume and is easily worth a low five stars.

The franchise continues to go from strength to strength with this latest instalment, as Miria & her comrades take on the resurrected forms of the previous Number Ones - now awakened into Abyssal Beings no less!This volume really is a cracker; the action literally doesn't let up even for a moment. Given the insanity of some of the previous chapters it's impressive that they can continue to raise the bar like this.. Seeing the Claymores combine their various abilities to take down Hysteria is a particular standout moment. Fans of Claire will be sad to hear she doesn't appear in this volume.. However, it's no big deal; Miria is a charismatic enough heroine in her own right, & the supporting Claymores are, for the most part, likeable. Riki also makes a brief appearance but, while not quite as useless as his anime counterpart, fails to contribute much.. Time will tell if he ever moves beyond being just moral support...Anyway; if, like me, you enjoyed the anime but were disappointed with how it ended, you have no excuse not to get this manga. It takes everything good about the anime series & builds on it in spectacular fashion. Some of the battles could be accused of being slightly over-the-top, as the Claymores display ever more crazy & improbable powers.. But, hey - it's manga! You need a certain suspension of disbelief to enjoy it!!So, if you like the franchise; or just enjoy seeing cute but badass chicks slicing big scary monsters into stock cubes, do yourself a favour & snap this up. You won't regret it!

... is amazingepic fights, interesting story-line and awesome characters.don't be put off if you've watched the anime series, the disappointing ending isn't included in the manga story and a lot of the crazy back stories aren't included.the only thing I dislike about this series is how long I have to wait between volumes!

It was a gift for someone who likes the series and he was really pleased with it, so a great buy.

Latest volume in the Claymore series. A manga comic story about a land where humans live in terror of horrible monsters, and the only people who can fight them are the Claymores. Ladies with special abilities and large swords who work for a mysterious organisation.This is not a good jumping on point. New readers should start with volume one. Anyone who has seen the anime but not read the manga should start with volume eleven.This volume follows the usual format for the series, in that it is an A5 sized book of black and white art that runs to just under two hundred pages. It is divided into six chapters. And is read in the usual manga fashion of right to left and starting from the back of the book.At the end of the last volume, we left the story on a big cliffhanger with the reels facing some very powerful reanimated former comrades. Miria and her allies were in for a very big fight.And that's just what happens here.This volume is once again mostly fight scenes, which by now in the series do run the risk of getting repetitive. And since it's been a while since the last volume and some characters who aren't as familiar as others do figure, you can initially struggle to remember who is who. But you do get used to it. Because the battle scene does really have a very intense feel to it. Miria has a pretty interesting epiphany along the way.Also two plot strands do come together.Once again Claire doesn't feature, but it does look as if we will get back to her soon. So that's not a complaint.Added to which, things really do appear have changed in the status quo by the end. So you will once again be left eager to find what happens next.A decent volume in an excellent series.
