Review: A Simple, Effective Cardio Machine - This is a great piece of workout equipment, perfect for me. I love that it has no electric parts to fuss with, and it was easy to assemble and start using. Even though it only has one resistance level, body weight is really all I need. It feels like climbing a pretty steep mountain, definitely strenuous, but without worrying about slipping or losing balance. A solid 20–30 minutes is plenty, and I find it way more intense than a treadmill or rowing machine. Fantastic cardio workout. If anyone’s worried about impact on ankles or knees, it’s actually very minimal (definitely gentler than a treadmill). Just try not to stomp too hard or hit the bottom of the machine. after a couple of sessions you get the hang of it. Noise level is acceptable to me. I can listen to a podcast on my phone without headphones and have no issues hearing it clearly. Great for a quick workout rain or shine without leaving the house. I’ve only used it for a few days, so I can’t speak to long-term durability, but since there are no electronic parts, I’m pretty confident it’ll last or it'll be easier to fix. If you’re looking to build lower-body muscles, this probably isn’t the machine. but for cardio and leg strength, it’s excellent. Five stars!
Review: Great workout - PLEASE NOTE: Review updated to reflect excellent quality of customer service (see last paragraph). Putting the Maxi Climber together was a task--it took longer than it might usually have because some of the nuts and bolts were not attached to the machine, and I had to dig around the box to find them. That was irritating, but once I found everything, I completed construction in a few minutes. Make sure all the pieces listed in the handbook are included; there is also a DVD. The machine comes with a little wrench that allows you to screw on the bolts. You need to attach the feet very tightly. One of the most crucial pieces is the pin with a ring on it that holds the machine together with the bar at the base, and then to keep it closed when you fold it and put it away. Without that piece, you might as well return the machine. Always secure that pin and check all the screws for tightness before exercising. Another caution mentioned by another reviewer: you need to look out or you might bump a ceiling fan with the handlebars, which are quite long, so place your machine accordingly. It takes up very little space, and I love how easy it is to put away. This would fit in the smallest room or apartment. Once I had the machine put together, I decided to give it a try. Since I'm not in the greatest condition (I broke my ankle and foot in summer 2013, was bedridden for 3 months and limped for six more), I held onto the stationary bars above the timer and very cautiously put my feet on the steps before grasping the sliding bars. Everything held firm, and the machine seems very stable. The instructions warn you not to lean forward while moving. The isometric motion is amazing, working your arms against your legs. It didn't hurt my joints at all, and it actually helped my spine. Within five minutes I had already worked up a major sweat. My arms, legs, and abs are still burning as I type this. I am optimistic that this thing might actually help me get back into shape! Even if the Maxi Climber eventually breaks down after a few months, it's worth trying for $249.00, as opposed to $3000.00 for a massive tread-climber that might be next to impossible to return. desertcart has an excellent return policy, so I felt confident when buying it that, if it didn't work out, I could send it back. So, KEEP ALL YOUR PACKAGING! You may need it. One caveat: the components, while reasonably heavy, are rather thin, so I suggest you have your significant other or a friend spot you during your first workout. The maximum weight it claims to hold is 240 lbs. I will update my progress as time goes by, but I am pleased today. *UPDATE: Innova responded to my poor packaging review (separate from product review) and they made everything right. Their customer service department is very polite and will work to make certain that you are happy with your Maxi-Climber--just ask! In light of that, they get five stars for great service. I feel satisfied now that this machine will last me for a long time.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the maximum weight that the machine will hold safely?**
A: Maxi Climber product literature specifies that the maximum weight for users is 240 pounds. However, as the weight of the user goes up, the propensity for the support rollers to fail goes up also. The machine has plastic rollers that support the weight of the user and they WILL FAIL. It is unavoidable. Read all the 1 star reviews and you will see that the weak point of the machine is the plastic rollers. If you weigh more than 90 pounds, this machine will fail within 6 months of purchase. If you weigh more than 150 pounds, it will fail within 3 months and if you are near 200, it will fail within weeks.

**Q: I want to be able to strengthen and firm my thighs. Will this do it? Do you feel it burn in the thighs?**
A: It depends on how in shape you are. It is a good work out for the legs and arms. Yes you do feel the burn. It is 100 % your own body doing the work. No mechanics to assist. It is all you and what you put into it. I hope this helps.

**Q: Does it have a tension adjustment**
A: Yes. The maxi climber xl 1000 does have tension adjustment.

**Q: I've read that it folds for storage. How small does it get? Can it fit in a standard closet?**
A: It does fold in. But it is definitely still "tall" - so you'd need at least 7+" of clearance.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product, not really designed for tall guys though
*by C***G on April 17, 2015*

Okay set up was a breeze only took maybe five mins to install. It was a long and lazy winter so I was pretty out of shape the first few times I used this. It really kicks your butt. I'm 6'2 250 pounds. I'd say anyone taller might have a problem properly using this machine. Even at max length I can't fully extend my reach on my reps. That being said, its still a great workout, I live in an upstairs apartment, and this was a little noisy upstairs, so we keep it downstairs near our door. This is very compact so you can easily workout in tight spaces, so downstairs it works great for us and isn't noisy on ground level. First time using this I set a timer to do 20 mins, after ten mins, my arms, legs and abs were burning so bad I had to stop. Heart rate was great, nice an sweaty, it was like jello trying to get back up the stairs. :) Instead of timing my workout with this, I count. I started doing 3 sets of 100, and then slowly went up from there, doing this every other day (along with other workouts) Noticing my legs and arms gaining strength after a couple weeks of use. I'm now up to one set of 200, and two of 150. I'm sure in a couple weeks I'll be able to stop counting and start doing it nonstop for twenty to thirty mins (thats my current goal). All in all I'd say we are happy with our purchase, my girlfriend is a lot smaller and shorter than me and she loves it. I'd love it if it extended a couple more inches up and down, but even though I can't fully extend it still gives me an awesome workout. Combined with a homemade ab wheel, perfect pushup, and pushing two kids in a double stroller, its a great workout that lets me skip the gym membership.
