We have been big time jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts for quite a while now. After doing hundreds of puzzles over the years, it is hard to find a different and challenging enough puzzle to make it feel worthwhile to spend our time on. I wrapped this 1,000 piece guy and put it under the tree while worrying whether or not such a small box could contain a quality jigsaw puzzle. After the wrapping was torn off, the gift opening process stopped dead in its tracks as we sorted through the pieces, marveling at the dozens of special shapes of animals, people, and flowers that tumbled out - all perfectly cut with edges painted black. Within those shapes were tiny, tiny laser-cut outlines of features like eyes or jawlines or shells - depending on the image. You could hold up the piece and see the light through the outline. We were blown away. Warning though- most pieces were about an inch, give or take, but some pieces were under a half inch - very small and easy to lose. The pieces don't interlock easily and stay together like a Ravensburger puzzle, you have to take your cues through the colors as well as the shapes. The colors of the artwork also make it hard because they are woven rather randomly throughout the composition. It took me over an hour to make my first match while my daughter (an adult) and husband had made about a dozen matches. It was a little frustrating for me but they were delighted and, since it was their gift - success! We've seen the 1,000 piece all white puzzle and tried the 1,000 piece puzzle that is nothing but a tangle of tiny black lines. We have worked puzzles that are over 2 and 3 thousand pieces. This is a hard, hard puzzle but, unlike those puzzles, it is very interesting. And the image, colors and quality level make it beautiful. If you are a big jigsaw puzzle fan - definitely get one of these puzzles. If you are not sure about the 1,000 piece one, I feel you. In that case, I would suggest getting a puzzle in the 500 piece style. If that is too easy for you, order the 1,000 piece lion (the only style in 1,000 pieces right now) later. Happy puzzling.

Wow! What a great puzzle! It's challenging, just right for experienced puzzlers. I'm not sure it would suit beginners or younger ones. The pieces vary in size from standard to tiny, and no two shapes are the same. I love that there are puzzles within the puzzle, with small single piece lions and tigers, larger multi-piece tiger, lion, elephant, owl, eagle, and more. There is even a scene with hikers in an evergreen forest complete with deer and a bear. There are fun shapes like a bunny, hummingbird, duck, chameleon, teddy bear, hyena, wolf, and more. I am amazed! The fit of each detailed piece is precise; (I'm thinking this puzzle must be CNC cut.) I especially appreciate the included reference sheet with the finished product on one side and an outline "map" showing each piece's location in the puzzle. The finished work is astounding, with brilliant colors and detailed artwork. The wooden storage box is a bonus. The top can be be used as a reference picture, and two "stand" pieces are included.

love these puzzles! they are challenging, and the different shapes make these puzzles addicting to just keeping getting one more piece put together. Ive spent late nights on these cause I cant walk away! Great size, beautifully made with the wood! Super cool puzzles and totally worth it!

Gorgeous colors and fun to put together. I’m disappointed that the key/cheat sheet for pieces was completely wrong. Very frustrating trying to match up pieces until we figured out it was all wrong. Once together, it was really cool. I would purchase more puzzles from this company if I knew the key was correct.

Beautiful! Good quality. Fun to put together. A good challenge for intermediate puzzle fans. We bought size medium and it was perfect-so picture. There were no missing pieces and the cut quality was excellent.

Unique puzzle with unusual shapes. Challenging but also a delight to work on. All wood, so feels nice to handle and small enough to finish in an hour or so.

There was a hole in the box. Planned on giving as gift but no.
