Yamax SW701 Digi-Walker Pedometer

This is my third Yamax pedometer in 12 years. The first was provided by my employer, one of the largest healthcare systems in West Michigan, which promotes healthy lifestyles for its 14,000 employees. Yamax has stronger, more positive reviews than I've read about any other pedometer. The pedometer is extremely accurate, whether I wear it on a snug-fitting waistband or on the cuff of my sock. I have also purchased Yamax pedometers, each with different features, for my two daughters. I do wear my pedometer 7 days a week. Yamax is very durable.

Bought one for husband and one for myself. His was clearly not registering his steps correctly, so I set it for my own stride/weight and wore both of them for a 3 mile walk. Neither registered the same or accurately. I think the company must make their money from the restocking fee or consumers just don't realize how inaccurate these are

I bought this pedometer two years ago after looking at a lot of reviews. It was rated as one of the most accurate pedometers. It has lived up to my expectations. It is very accurate and works as well today as when I bought it. I now plan to buy another one for my husbnd. I also bought the strap and I recommend this as it does occasionally come off my waistband. I have a friend who bought this pedometer on my recommendation. She is over 100 pounds overweight and she had to adjust where she wears it as she does not get an accurate reading when she wears it on her waist. However, I suspect that most pedometers will not work accurately for obese people.

This is the third Digi-Walker I've owned over the past 15 years or so. I got my first one wet. I don't know what happened to my second one - it started counting steps unreliably after about 5 years' use (even with a new battery). I only need the steps/distance. I don't use the kcal feature very much, but the price was right! As my weight changes, I'd need to reprogram the caloric factor (unnecessary for distance/steps). Through the years I've been given other pedometers as business promotions; Digiwalker is by far the most dependable/accurate of all the ones I've tested (wearing both). I'm using the strap/clip from my previous Digi-Walker - that's an important feature that wasn't part of this item.

Simple step counter with only a few extremely easy bells and whistles. Reliable. Great battery life, too. Does its' job well. You'll like your purchase unless you really wanted a step counter that accesses the internet and all social media sites as it reads your blood glucose level and tracks fractionated cholesterol results and triglyceride levels for automatic transmission to your Doctors' office. Personally, I'm waiting for one with a tiny cattle prod that zaps me when my pace drops too low.

It does count steps, but I'm not sure who's steps it is counting. There aren't any instructions about where on your body you should wear it. There also aren't very many instructions at all on the proper use of the device. The first night that I tried to wear it on my waistband, it was obviously in the wrong spot because I walked a half of a mile, and it only counted 23 steps. After talking with friends who owned other brands of step counters (much better ones), I started wearing it on my waist band further back on my hip. That seemed to be closer to a more accurate count. But then riding in the car, bumpy roads and such, add more steps, so I am not sure how many steps I have actually done at the end of the day. I've already lost it once in the snow, overnight. So I would suggest buying some sort of cord to attach it to your clothes. Although, I suppose I can say it is a pretty tough device to stay out in the cold wet snow for about 12 hours and still be operational. Overall, I find the device to be cumbersome, problematic and frustrating. More instructions on the proper use and care would be helpful. But I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it to a friend.

Quality is fine. They no longer provide a safety clip to prevent loss. (They used to.) I lost it first time I used it and company said, too bad, buy a strap - extra cost. If strap was offered when I ordered, I didn't notice.

Exactly what I wanted - accurate to within a few tenths of a 5 mile measured mile course. Simple to use and unobtrusive to wear. The clip has a strong clamp force and has not shown any sign of falling off while in use. Very pleased with this purchase. And dealing with Heart Rate Monitors was absolutely great too - I was notified product had shipped the day I ordered it! And while it wasn't a "Prime" purchase, it arrived in my mailbox 2 days later! Great service!
