Awesome for my compressor aftercooler
This is a really well built heat exchanger that I used as an aftercooler for my compressor. I wouldn't hesitate to use this in other scenarios as well, be it as a transmission cooler (as intended) or anywhere else heat exchange is needed between two mediums. It worked well and feels very well built. Kind of hard to see it in the pic - follow the copper pipe to the black obelisk in the background. There's a fan mounted back there too blowing air through it that you can't see. I was able to cool the air from the pump by over 200F on its way to the tank, removing moisture and making my air tools very happy. I looked at other options that were 20-ish dollars cheaper, but those were generally tube/fin and had AN fittings, which would have meant a more cloogey plumbing job to get from AN to NPT. Plate&Fin generally does a more effective job exchanging heat too and this did not disappoint. It came with some hose, barb fittings, and ties for connecting a fan... I didn't use any of that as my mounting/plumbing situation was unique, but the accessories all appeared to be of high quality. Thumbs way up on this!

Well made
Took about 1 1/2 hrs to install...no leaks...looks quality made. I don't have a temp gauge so I can't give you numbers. But its 2.5 times the size of my stock tube and fin one. Install looks factory.

Uses the correct fittings for 3/8 NPT hoses as application for compressor cooler
This is a sturdy, durable cooler. I wish radiators were built like this. It has 3/8 NPT female fittings so hoses with male ends are appropriate to match with a large size (60 gal compressor or equivalent). See photos for my application. I used separately purchased screws, double nuts, and thread locker along with the included foam squares and fender washers to set this cooler on the side of the cage that protects the compressor belt because of the built in flywheel fan. The fan moves enough air to provide cooling, just don't block the back side of the cooler by placing it against a wall. (minimum I read somewhere is 8 inches from the wall). Also, I found less stress with hoses facing down, and there is no limitation on orientation direction of this cooler per the mfg website. It removes huge amounts of water from my compressor before it goes into the tank (that's where you have to insert the cooler to be most effective, just off the head of the compressor), but some water still exists in the tank when done, yet none exits to power my equipment. Just to add, the cooled air needs a place to collect and separate the water. I chose this piece although something that automatically emptied each time the compressor stops and lets out the pressure from the head would have been nicer. See photo for part description.

Nice cooler
Installed this on my 95 f250 with an e4od a few months back when I had to get a new trans. I originally bought one but then bypassed the radiator cooler and threw a second one on my truck to make up for that. The trans has never gotten passed 190 degrees even in the August heat(va) and it’s only gotten there one time. Most of the time it stayed around 150 degrees. I don’t pull any weight though so I can’t say how it would do then, however adding a fan over these is easy. I’m keeping them covered up in the winter and the trans still stays very cool. Great transmission cooler!

Great quality cooler
Great quality cooler, just wish it came with several common barb fitting sizes to choose from. Installed on 2009 Ford Taurus X, bypasssing the leaking factory cooler, which is part of the A/C condenser unit. Cleaned radiator and condenser, rerouted factory hoses around and in front of them, and extended to the Derale cooler with 1/2" barb unions, and connected to the unit using Derale brane 1/2" barb NPT fittings. Installed cooler in center of stack, so that electric fan would pull as much air as possible through it. Vehicle runs highway temperatures around 140-160 and in town (we have lots of hills) may get into the 180s or 190s. Factory cooler would usually run around 180 on the highway, and dip into the low 200s at times while in town.
