It is hard to find a true cellulose sponge mop today. This one checks all the boxes. Comfortable handle, easy to wring out and sturdy. But, most of all, it is a cellulose mop, not an imitation. It cleans without leaving streaks.

This is just like the great mop I used to use. I've had trouble finding one that is metal which makes all the difference for squeezing the water out. The sponge is also very good. Buy it and use with Once and Done. Sparkling floors with no residue.

After buying and discarding countless cheap plastic sponge mops, we decided to get this product. Once upon a time, all sponge mops were made of metal and could be relied upon to last for a considerable length of time. No more. Go to your local big box store or supermarket and all you will find will be plastic mops of ridiculously low quality that will break under use within a matter of weeks or months at best. We have only had the HOMEMAID mop for a short time but it appears to be built to last. The only disappointment was in the sponge head itself. The cellulose sponge separated from its backing after a single use. I would not recommend buying the HOMEMAID replacements. The LOLA Squeeze Sponge Mop refill would be a better choice. Since this style of mop is becoming increasingly rare, finding a good replacement sponge refill may be a challenge. Any 9 inch sponge head with 6.5 inch pegs should fit.

I got this mop to follow up on some deep, deep, deeply imbedded dust & dirt left from previous occupants in 1980’s kitchen flooring. I was on hands/knees scrubbing w/ short brush-got initial gunk off. I knew I needed a straight, sturdy handled upright mop to follow up. The length is standard yet just right for me - I am 5’ tall. The sponge is strong & holds just the right amount of moisture to get the job done. It is much easier on my back to stand & do the mopping. I have early onset arthritis in a few fingers but this sponge mop is easy to use/wring out. Simply pull the green handle attached to the silver colored flap around to squeeze the sponge to wring out. The user controls the amount of water retained in the sponge by the amount of pressure used when wringing it out. I don’t have a pail, I use my bathtub or sink to rinse/wring out the mop. I remember my Mom used these for years/decades. Now I’m convinced why. My floor is not perfect yet because the dust, dirt, grime are so thick & imbedded; it has nothing to do with the mop or its function. This mop made a difference! I just need to do a few more rounds on the floor. Refill sponges are also available. The mop’s uncomplicated design makes it effortless, quick to use & convenient to store in my cramped apt.

It's hard to imagine that anyone actually tested this product. I bought it because I wanted a real cellulose sponge, unlike the barely absorbent hunks of foam normally foisted on us today. The sponge itself is OK, though a lot thinner than the ones I used to buy. But the squeegee part is supposed to click around the handle to keep it in place when you're not squeezing. This one does not. Unless you're mopping VERY gently, the squeegee part flops around, creating a tremendous clatter. In fact, if you're not careful, it could hit your foot! I might use the mop anyway, I'm that desperate. But aside from the sponge, this is the worst-designed mop I've ever owned. Update 11/18/2024 -- I only got to use this mop a few times before the sponge attachment broke away. It has plastic pins that fit through metal holes on the mop, and the holes were apparently left so rough, they cut through the pins. I smoothed the holes and was going to try again with a refill, but with shipping and tax, the refill cost almost as much as the mop! I'm starting to wonder if this mop was designed for display only -- not for actual use.

This is a well made mop! I wasn't expecting the quality of what I got when I ordered this.

Great just like old times this is hard to find

Mop is very durable. The metal spring head is great. The sponge part rinses clean. Not sure about getting replacement sponge, but looks very generic in size & fastening. I have broken numerous plastic spring squeeze head parts on other mops. Cost was a little bit higher than the plastic ones, but well worth the price
