I have only used it for garlic slices. I guess from looking at it you can change the blade opening size, but I am not interested in using it for anything else. Cooking is a hobby so the garlic gets whipped out and peeled all the time, frequently sliced with a knife on a cutting board. But THIS gadget not only does all of this slicing rapidly, but the slices are perfect for searing to delicious crisp pieces to add to all sorts of foods. Two cautions: be careful, it would be easy to add part of a finger or thumb to those slices, and it is a little bit of a hassle to get completely clean, but I still rate it an overall 5.

I bought this slicer while waiting to receive some truffles for a dinner and I couldn't have picked a better slicer. The adjustable blade cut the truffles to perfection and the blade is super sharp. I also love the fact that is made out of wood and it doesn't look cheap compared to other shavers. I definitively recommend it if you want to impress your guest. Can't wait to slice more truffles!
