Does the job if you know what the job is
I’m shocked at the number of bad reviews due to ineffectiveness, bad taste or expiration date. First, pastilles like this work primarily to coat the mouth and throat with a smooth, thick substance to ease a sore/scratchy throat. They’re not medicine. If you expect anything more than the above, buy medicine. Secondly, because they are not candy, they don’t taste or feel like candy. I buy these precisely because I have dry mouth and throat and they work great at stimulating saliva and coating my dry mouth and throat with something soothing that’s not gum, sugar or irritating sweeteners. They aren’t super sweet (tend to be slightly tart actually) and they aren’t soft like gummy bears but also not hard and crunchy. They are meant to suck on and relatively quickly dissolve. Finally, if you buy these and they are bad tasting to you or don’t “work” for you or the expiration date is within 6 months or WHATEVER REASON, they have a 45 day money back guarantee. Contact THE SELLER. Not Amazon. The seller’s info is on the product package and they will explain their terms and tell you how to get your money back. Also, how do so many people not understand that although Amazon will not let you return anything edible, they will refund your money if what you purchase is meant to be edible but not edible. If it’s not acceptable for you to consume because no human would be able to consume it, contact Amazon and they will refund your purchase. They don’t want your nasty garbage back so toss it, get a credit, and try another pastille. They vary widely in flavor but most are otherwise close to what you get here. Also, don’t buy the one that claims to ease anxiety with magic..ahem homeopathy. That is an expensive con.

As a singer, glycerine based drops are difficult to find!
I'm a huge proponent of glycerine based cough drops - not just for singers, but anyone with a sore and/or dry throat. They're more and more difficult to find, particularly in the US, where companies have decided sugar plus menthol is cheaper to manufacture and just as good. It's not. Menthol is drying, sugar doesn't help anything, and the lack of something that actually coats the throat is irritating beyond belief.I normally use Pine Bros. honey cough drops, which are affordable and work. Unfortunately, they're not always available. Grether's Pastilles are a bit expensive, but each lasts a long time in the mouth, and they're very much glycerine based. I keep several tins on hand when I'm touring, and recommend them to friends. As an added plus, the tins can be used for a multitude of other purposes. I currently use old empty ones to hold guitar picks, pieces of Velcro, capos, sewing repair items, and half a dozen other things.

Delicious!
The package was supposed to arrive on Friday, then it changed to a Sunday date, but I ended up receiving it on a Saturday. I was worried the contents would arrive melted, but to my surprised, the tins were packaged nicely, and we not melted. Blueberry, elderflower, and black currant are all delicious flavors and I will be reordering again in the future! I think I'll save the tins and buy one large container to reuse the others.

Good once.
Too expensive to justify buying again, but they were good. I prefer them over Joles but Joles is way more candy for the money.

They work!
My daughter gets nervous when she gets on stage to sing before the congregation of our church. She saw a review about these and asked if I would order them. I was a bit skeptical but figured we would try them anyway. What a difference! She is singing with more confidence since her throat isn’t dry! Thank you!!

The Best for speaking or singing.
Grether's Pastilles are the very best lubricating lozenges you will find for singing or speaking. No menthol. No dryness. Just smooth and flavorful.
