Excellent Soft Twine, Though Not Compostable
I like using this garden twine. It's really soft and much less fiddly to tie than string. It doesn't cut into the plant stems and it's also very strong. Being green it's camouflaged against the foliage, and doesn't look ugly. There's a lot on a roll at 30m, and you get two, making this twine good value. For tomatoes, climbing plants and staking tall perennials, it's exceptionally versatile. It will hold soft stems as easily as woody stems, without causing any damage to the plant. The disadvantage, for me, and why I haven't given it top marks, is because it's made of polyester fibre. The description says that it will break down over time, but it's not a product that I can put into my compost and feel confident that I won't be picking it all out again at a later date. Polyester is an oil based plastic. It can take decades to decompose, and I read that it can only be sent to landfill and it has the potential to remain unchanged for hundreds, if not thousands of years. This may well disintegrate after a year or two, but when you're clearing your greenhouse of tomato plants, you just want to be able to throw the string in heap with the finished plants for composting. This twine, I will have to carefully remove tie by tie, which is slow to do, and put it in the general bin. If it had been made of cotton or a natural fibre, it would have been so much better in my opinion.

Good quality, does the job well.
These are made from excellent quality materials and will withstand more tension than the average plant securing requires, makeing it handy for other garden or DIY jobs than just securing plants. They are soft and would keep the stems safe, great value for money too, would definitely recommend.

Very soft so perfect for tender stems
This is a pretty good deal really - 60 metres of twine for under £8.00 (sometimes cheaper) - a gardener's delight! I ordered this for my girlfirend who is an avid gardener and loves growing climbing veg and flowers. She says that it will come in very handy, and she especially likes the soft feel which she tells me will be good for the tender stems of certain plants and flowers. This twine is more of a long strip of soft fabric that has been folded in half, as opposed to twisted twine that is usually found in gardens. It feels quite durable and ties well with a good hold, but perhaps is a little more likely to slip than twisted twine. My biggest concern is with how long it will last in the great British weather. Lots of rain and then a strong sun may wear this more than other twines, but time will tell. After a year of use I will update this review if I find it either over or under performs, but for now I think this is good value and a decent (if not a bit unusual) twine.

It's slightly stretchy polyester fabric cut into a long strip.
It's soft so will be gentle on your plants, and strong (with a little bit of stretch). Easy to tie. Needs a knife or scissors to cut.It does the job well, but the downside over twine, and to me it is a big downside, is that it is made of synthetic material that will take years to biodegrade. This means you can't just cut it down and stick it in the compost heap / bin like you can with natural strings / twines.

Not really twine, but very soft
I wouldn't call this twine, it is made from some sort of t shirt type polyester material. It is extremely soft and easy to tie. However, my big problem with it is that it isn't biodegradable. I don't really like using anything in my garden that won't break down naturally if it goes on the compost heap.A lovely idea, but such a shame that it couldnt be made of cotton.

Excllent
I have always previously used string or twine, and this was a new experience for me. It is very strong, and it cannot just be ripped, a pair of scissors is needed. It is not stretchy, but that's not really important when tying my plants to the trellis.I tied well, and held good and strong. Very happy with it and will last a long time as there is so much!

soft knitted twine for tomatoes
I have not seen twine like this before. It is green knitted material with no stretch in it that cuts and ties around the stems very easily. It looks like it should stretch but actually does not. I am finding it ties easily around the tomato stems and is good to use in that it does not damage the stems and can be tied very easily when you do so.It comes in a resealable bag to keep it clean in the green house which is also useful.. I do not know if this twine will be reusable, the type I normally use can be reused for a few years before needing to be replaced but I very much doubt this will be able to.

Long, soft garden twine
There are two rolls in this pack, each one being 30 m/98 feet, so there’s plenty of it to cut to any length you need. It’s made from polyester fibre, and is basically a strip of material that sort of folds in on itself; it’s very soft and strong, but not stretchy, which is a good thing as you want it to hold your plant stems steady. It is very flexible, and it is soft enough that it won’t damage the plants. I’m used to using twine but on first use it works okay.
