I like this controller up until it quit working.
I really liked this little controller, but something seems to have failed in it. It was working for about two days. When I moved it to another USB power adapter, the LED strip flashed for an instant then quit working. The UI was still working at the time, but after a while, it started getting stuck loading in the WLED app. The app could still see the controller, but the UI was inaccessible most of the time. I have used and built many WLED controllers. It might be my imagination, but the controller feels hotter than it should if no strip is attached. I checked the LED connector and it was still supplying 5V. It seems the gpio for the serial data output has failed, and for whatever reason, the ESP32 inside is running very hot. Regardless, I plan on buying more of these units. I can't imagine this is a common failure in this device.

Take control.
With WLED installed you can take control of your RGB lighting yourself.I did the setup on a PC by connecting to the Wi-Fi the device emits while waiting for setup. There is also a WLED app that is very user friendly.Spend a couple bucks extra to get the sound activated versions. You may find it comes in useful in the future even if you don't plan to use it now.I replaced a non-sound reactive version that needed a cell phone running to sense sound and create the display. With this model that's not necessary. The small version it's easily tucked away.I did have 1 issue with this device not working with one of my wifi AP, no issue using another AP.

Could be a good controller for WLED Strips But..
The media could not be loaded. Device has no power when connect with USB (computer or charger). No status light showing what's going on. Returned.

Best small plug and play on Amazon
This is the best plug and play on Amazon. Once you get to know the WLED software it will work with Alexa and function perfectly. Please remember to unplug the unit once you activate sound and unplug the unit after activating Alexa.

Convenient, cheap, effective
I'm an Arduino and ESP32 nerd so of course I have used the WLED project firmware and App to drive strings of programmable RGB LEDs. There's a lot to experiment with strings but I especially like using the many 2D arrays available on Amazon to display text, time and fun animations. WLED is native firmware that runs on the hugely popular microcontrollers from Espressif, the ESP32 and ESP8266. Not only does WLED control your LEDs with patterns and effects (over 100 at the present time), it also establishes a web service running on the microcontroller that you connect to from your phone or tablet to control the LEDs.I recently had the fun of building my own ESP32 circuit, wiring it up, connecting a microphone using the I2S interface and then programming it with the WLED firmware via the website. Great fun and a great test of your soldering skills. Now, if that sounds like fun I suggest diving into the world of microcontrollers and the ESP32 in particular. On the other hand, if the previous paragraph sounds like terrifying gobbledygook to you then this GLEDOPTO device might be exactly what you need. It's an inexpensive prebuilt ESP32 design with the WLED firmware installed, ready to run. It even has a digital microphone so you can use the many sound-driven effects included in WLED. Using the device is quite easy and the instruction sheet is very well written. It will take you by the hand installing the WLED app on your phone and connecting to it's private WiFi server for initial setup. At that time you can tell WLED how to connect to your WiFi network (2.4GHz only) as well as details like how many RGB LEDs are in the string you want to control. If you have a 2 dimensional RGB array, you will need to tell WLED how they are arranged so that it can drive them intelligently with patterns and even text. I highly recommend watching a couple of the many "Getting started with WLED" videos on YouTube. The GLEDOPTO device is so simple to use that any challenges you will face are entirely learning how to configure and run WLED itself.I really enjoy building my own microcontroller circuits but why bother when you can get a module like this. Thoroughly recommended. Packaging was very simple, just a cardboard box and the instruction sheet.
