Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust.APPLICATIONApply a coat of Libéron Wax Polish Black Bison sparingly with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth on a delicate (i.e., French-polished) surface or with Libéron Ultrafine Steel Wool (grade 0000) when a deeper penetration is required. Allow to dry for 20 minutes, or until touch dry, and then buff with a clean cotton cloth or Libéron Furniture Brush for a better finish. Being about 150 years old, the wood clearly would benefit from a quality wax. I chose the clear wax because I didn't want to obscure the lustre in the finish. I found the wax easy to apply with a new yellow duster. Instructions are to apply sparingly, so a little went a long way. The wax dried in about 20 to 25 minutes and then I buffed it with another new duster. The result is perfectly good and shiny. I suspect that if I worked harder by applying more coats and a lot more buffing, I could get a really high gloss finish. The wood has some minor marks and scratches, not surprisingly in view of its age, and these show through the wax as I wanted them to, as I didn't want to lose the piece's essential character.
