The design is great and it works as a normal jar. Didn't matter how firm I closed the lids of the two jars I bought, but it still leaked when upside down, which defies the purpose of buying this style of jar. Hopefully the manufacturers can concentrate on making it leak proof, which should be simple.

This is such a clever jar, it is great for olives, so easy to pick olives out rather than from the original jar olives had been bought. Fits in fridge well and I can also be use it for pickles.

The Magic Flip The real star of the show is the hourglass design with the built-in strainer. You store your pickles, olives, jalapenos, etc., in the brine as usual. But when you want one, you just flip the jar over. The liquid drains down into the bottom chamber, leaving all the goodies sitting high and dry in the top section, perfectly presented and easy to grab with your fingers or a fork. No more digging! When you're done, you just flip it back over, and the contents are submerged in the brine again to stay fresh. It's such a simple, elegant solution to a common problem. Versatility is a Huge Plus I originally bought this just for pickles, but I've already realized it's perfect for so much more.
