Motomco 32553 1# Gopher Killer

Every day I would wake up to numerous gopher mounds. I have a beagle and of course my beagle would dig up my yard looking for gophers. My yard looked like the surface of the moon because of all the digging. I had to take action and so I bought this product. I have to be extremely careful not to poison my dog, or my chickens. Here is what I did. I went to each fresh mound and I used a 1/4 in x 3 foot fiberglass tomato stake to poke down around the gopher mounds. After you break through the surface, you can feel weather there is a tunnel or not. If you feel constant resistance, no tunnel. If you feel the stake break through and no resistance you have found the tunnel. Once I found the tunnel, I use a 1/2 inch x 3 foot sprinkler line and pressed it down into the same hole that I used the tomato stake. This formed a 1/2 in hole down into the tunnel. Then I made a paper funnel because I did not have a plastic one. I put the funnel into the 1/2 inch hole and I dropped two scoops of pellets into the hole. (product comes with a little yellow scoop) Then I covered that hole where I put the pellets. I am on my 3rd day with this gopher killer product and today I woke up to only 2 new gopher mounds instead of my normal 6-8. It is very clearly working and I have no doubt that soon they will all be gone and I can begin work on fixing my back yard up again with a roto tiller, rake, and lawn seed. I highly recommend that you do wear gloves, make sure you do not breath the fumes of this stuff, and be sure to cover each hole that you drop pellets in. I am also concerned about a gopher dying outside of the hole and my beagle eating it and so I also look for dead rodents but I have not found any. Be sure to pick up each and every dropped pellet so that your chickens or other animals do not eat it. Overall, I give this an excellent review and recommend this product.

I purchased the gopher bait and an applicator to deposit the bait into the hole and around the tunnels. Waited two to three days and the gophers were still digging in the general area. Followed the directions as stated, but no luck killing any gophers.

Save your money and time by buying something else. This product simply does not work on gophers. The gopher on my property was not attracted by the bait at all and would not eat it, despite I applied the bait as instructed to every active tunnel in the past few weeks. This product is simply a scam - gophers feed on fresh plants, how would they be attractede by grain based bait? I even tried to mix it with peanut butter or mashed apples to lure the gopher. Nope still didn't eat the bait.

The gopher poison has been effective for me over the years, but I believe it needs improved safety measures. Today, my package included not only the poison but also kids' multivitamins, straws, and clothes all in the same box. When I opened the poison, some spilled onto the clothes, which is a concerning oversight. To prevent such incidents, using plastic packaging with a tamper-proof seal on the poison would be essential. This would help ensure the product remains secure and reduce the risk of accidental exposure. Additionally, clear labeling about the hazards and proper handling instructions is crucial for safety. Implementing these measures would enhance consumer protection and confidence in using the product.
