Quaker Oat Bran Hot Cereal, with Fiber and Protein, 16 oz Box (Pack of 6)

I have been eating Quaker oat bran for many many years but for a long time I have not been able to find it in the grocery stores. It's a slightly lower carb/higher fiber alternative to oatmeal, and oats are a great source of an important insoluble fiber called beta glucan. It tastes essentially identical to oats but has a different texture. The texture is more like cream of wheat. I also learned recently, that in the raw state, it has a lot of resistant indigestible starch which is converted to digestible starch upon cooking. Resistant starch doesn't cause a blood sugar rise and is treated by the body like fiber. Since I learned this, instead of cooking it in the morning, I prepare it the night before by mixing 1/2;cup raw oat bran with 1 1/4 cups soymilk in a converted glass bowl and refrigerating it overnight. In the morning, I add frozen berries and microwave gently until warm, but to no more than 140 degrees F to prevent conversion of the resistant starch to starch. With nuts added, it makes a filling breakfast that keeps me full for many hours. I can usually skip lunch, or have an apple during the afternoon, then have dinner in the evening. I am so happy that Amazon carries it and hope Quaker never ever stops making it.

I like this hot cereal because it is not slimy like regular oatmeal. No stores in my small town carry it, so I was very happy to find it on Amazon.

This brand proved to be the best fur making bran muffins.

This is the second package I receive from the seller. This one appeared tidier but has the same problem as the previous one. The packaging is not appropriate. It means the container or Oat Bran Box is defective the Oat Bran was coming out from under the flaps, above and below and sideways. I don't understand why, when having such a wonderful product someone would just package it that way.At least the Oat Bran is falling inside the bag that contains the three boxes. On the previous order I placed Saran wrap and taped it tight all around the boxes and still under the wrap you can see the Oat Bran spilling out. I love the Oat Bran, easy to cook in A.M. Hopefully the vendor can change the packaging for the Oat Bran not to spill out of it anywhere.

I like the smoother texture over lumpy oatmeal! It is quick to use and I add brown sugar and sometimes dried cranberries.

I was wanting to get a little more healthier options in my eating, so I decided to try this. It's a good product and can be used in different recipes as well as by itself. I even went a less healthy option and used it in a candy recipe that uses oats and melted almond bark for a little extra health kick in a candy recipe, lol.

I cook this with the Old Fashioned oats. Pour in the cooking oats and makes very creamy.

Soft sided package resulted in crushed leaking box upon receipt otherwise good healthy product, only reason to buy on Amazon is I can't buy this in my town, past purchases were better packaged for shipment
