Incredible value keyboard
We bought this for our daughter for Christmas. We wanted to start her with a real keyboard that would last as she got older but also was a bit simpler with fewer than 88 keys. This was the perfect choice. Its weight is enough to feel sturdy, but not burdensome to have simply sitting on your lap. The speakers sound clear and crisp. The quiz functions are fun and educational. It takes batteries or plugs into the wall. I found the batteries to last a relatively long time considering it only takes AA batteries. It feels like a quality purchase for any beginner, and has inspired my wife to try to learn as well. The navigation of the various songs and styles is a bit odd, but is well documented and becomes very easy after using it a bit.

My 6 year old is obsessed!
My son used to have a small kids keyboard that eventually broke. He had out grown it anyway so for his birthday we decided to get him a major upgrade. We decided on this one because of the reviews and I like the shape of it a lot. I felt like it looked professional but kid friendly. There are lots of setting for different sounds that my son loves to experiment with. My son even taught himself a version of “the wedding song” it wasn’t perfect but it was pretty dang close. I was super impressed. I think it’s also a good thing to teach responsibility. It’s nice enough that he takes pride in taking care of it but not so expensive that if something happened to it, it would be devastating. Also would like to mention that with batteries and daily use it lasted for well over 5 months before we needed new batteries.

When convenience is key
My mom gave away her full size yamaha electric piano to her great-granddaughter to learn on. And she thought she wouldn't miss it...... but we all noticed she needed a piano. This one is smaller and easily handled by an 85+ yr old. She stores it under her bed & gets it out to play. It would be good for someone in a small apartment or who just likes to fiddle on the piano so they don't need the full keyboard. We got her a foot pedal & she is very happy making music again.

Good beginner
First of all the keyboard looks nice and well put, and the features it has for learning are good. The keyboard has over 400 different sounds so it’s has a lot of variety. The size is reasonable for that amount of keys. The only problem I have with the keyboard is the quality of the sound, it sounds muffled the louder it gets.

Lot's of features for the price.
Yamaha left a lot of features in place considering that the next model up is nearly double the price. All of the obvious must-have stuff is available in this keyboard including: Transpose, Voice Octave, Presets, large selection of drum beats, large selection of voices. I've been able to use this as a MIDI input device via the USB port and that really helps when I need to lay down a piano track. It's a little difficult getting used to the lack of that rotary wheel that helps you scroll through functions or adjust values. You'll notice that you don't have effects like flange or pan or chorus and also there's no pitch bend. But if you honestly need those features just get the more advanced model. Love the new "soft off" feature. My previous Yamaha had a mechanical power button. I'm grateful to Yamaha for giving me more than just the basics at this price point. Excellent product for practicing or composing or performing.

Go for it
This was a suprize gift from us to our kid. being around 11 year, was not surre what to gift. Gadgets keeps them glued to screen which i did not wanted. with no prior knowledge of playing an musical instrument, initially we were sceptical to buy this. But turned out to be the best gift ever we have purchased. The kid likes it a lot, spend more quality time on the Piano and have been playing many many songs on this. the keys are super and being semi-weighted the sound is super clear. And with multiple mode the kids will enjoy more. woudl highlight recommend
