I really like my MaxiPro. It has a wide range of functions and features that make my life as a mobile mechanic much easier than before I had it. Must of my testing and trouble shooting is done with this tool. Way less time under the hood for tests. The only down side is it’s a lil slow when running codes but not enough to slow me down during a project. I’m guessing it’s just being thorough on its checks because it pulls more codes and faults than my previous products by other brands.

I have found it to be a very valuable tool. It has helped me diagnose issues on a couple of different Ford trucks, a 2005 Suburban and a 2010 Hyundai. The automatic VIN reader and VIN decoder has worked great on all of the vehicles have used it on. Autel is constantly issuing new updates to the software to keep up with automobile manufactures and system improvements. Mine is connected to my home WiFi and the updates have been very easy. Any scanner is going to require a moderate level of automotive knowledge to accurately diagnoses problems. This or any other scanner does not just give you the answer to your problem. It is a tool that together with your knowledge can be used to identify the issues you are addressing. Before purchasing the scanner, I read several of the negative reviews. I normally find them very informative. In this case, I believe many of the negative reviews may have been written by individuals that are technically challenged.

Honestly I was Leary about purchasing a scanner in this price range, however this scanner blew my mind when I got it. It’s easy to use works with bmw and mini, which is the reason I needed it. My lower end scanner couldn’t perform the functions I needed on a mini vanos system. This scanner not only can diagnose run bidirectional commands but also can program modules. I used to have to pay extra or take a vehicle to a dealer to have a module updated or reprogrammed. If I did have to critique one thing, it would be the wording is definitely translated, but it’s easy enough to understand.

I bought this Autel MP808S to diagnose a problem with my wife’s car. The rear gate of her SUV would not open/close automatically with the push of the button. The dealership wanted around $1,000 to diagnose it and replace the motor and actuator. I hooked this unit up, reset the car’s computer, and voila! it works perfectly (and has for several months now). Great purchase which has paid for itself on the first use. If I never use it again, it was money well spent.

Overall I'd call this about 4.5 out of 5 stars. Boots up quickly (about 40 seconds), is pretty easy to navigate and has nice features and functionality. Using it on a 2012 Ford Escape for the first test vehicle, I was surprised with the number of things that this tool could do that would normally be found in the factory Ford scanner like the Power Balance test and ability to shut down cylinders, and accessing the Programmable Parameters function for different modules. The data list seems pretty comprehensive, and all self-tests are present. Only minor things that keep me from giving it a full 5 stars like the fact that it's 2022 and it still uses a Mini USB cable to charge. Why not USB-C? Now you have to keep another cable around to charge it. Also, as I think one other reviewer mentioned, follow the setup instructions on the Quick Start guide, not the menus on the scanner. Just going through and following the screen prompts when you first set it up will potentially lead you to running in circles. Lastly, some of the navigation terminology on the screens is not the most obvious, but it's easy enough to just jump into each section and see what it is if you're not sure until you get familiar with each section of the tool. Overall, definitely a tool worth having, especially for the money.
