Thank you for your interest in our water purifier. Under sink reverse osmosis systems tend to waste from 75 up to 90% of the water, depending on the model. The AquaTru countertop models are very efficient, only about 25% of the water is discarded as part of a process to continually “flush” the filters and extend their life. AquaTru uses Tritan plastic, the same BPA & BPS free plastic used in best-selling food blenders like Nutri Bullet and Vitamix. Tritan has been tested at universities and independent third-party labs and the results have overwhelmingly demonstrated that it is safe and free of estrogenic and androgenic activity. If you prefer to avoid all plastics, you can simply transfer the purified water into a glass pitcher after the filtering process. The whole unit is tested to be BPA free. This is one of the tests we have conducted. Part of the certification to NSF standards by IAPMO is to insure all parts are safe for water contact. The pre-filter lasts approximately 6 months. The pH + Mineral Boost Alkaline VOC Carbon filter lasts approximately 1 year. The RO filter lasts approximately 2 years. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
