Optical Illusions for Quilters

This book is packed full of sample images of creative quilts, examples of blocks, and explanations of several techniques that make for depth, dimension, and illusions. Several addition full quilt pattern templates in the back as well. Very useful in getting the creativity of the quilter to come out, without firm structure of a specific pattern.

This quilt book is out of print but has great art and quilting information. I had to order as used. The book came within a couple of days. I was so surprised at the great condition it was in. It did NOT disappoint!

This is a technique book that goes to great lengths to illustrate the variety of methods used to create illusions. Using a flat surface, angles, perspective, colors, shading and values all work to trick your mind that you are seeing depth.Use this book to drive your creativity as well as inspire you to gain more skills in this hobby. Study each of the illustrations as they are marvelous examples you learn something new each time you view this book.Art quilts are hear to stay and this is a great book to leave on your coffee table to show off to your guests that quilting has indeed come quite a long way. The face of quilting is everywhere around you, not a steriotype of our Grandma's cutting up old shirts.Enjoy this book and learn new techniques to add depth and enjoyment of this art/hobby of quilting.

This is a fabulous book if you’re looking for technical examples of using perspective. I didn’t realize that so I returned it.

If you wanted some mathematics for organizing some op art designs in your quilt this is not the book for you. There is a lot of information regarding color and spatial theories available in any basic art class unspecific to quilting. I was hoping to get some mathematical formula for creating an undulating pattern but there is none in this book. It is virtually a book of hot air in print. I am very disappointed and because it was purchased from a third party seller it is such a hassle to return it is a complete loss. I am very disappointed with this book.

I have this book and her DVD Patchwork Illusions I also bought her other book 3-D Fun with Pandora's box.I actually made this quilt and have gone on to make another. Easy instructions and assembly. The final reasult is breath taking.After I made these blocks I found I am intrigued with the illusional quilting and searching for every new book on the subject.I look forward to buying Karen's next Illusional book.

Nice patterns, though not the one I was looking for. Well written but dependent on specific tools, as mentioned by another reviewerr earlier.

I saw a quilt made from this book and it was exceptional. So I wanted to try my hand at making one. After I got this book, I found it is not as hard as I had previously thought. It is amazing how a flat block can look as if it is hanging in suspense along with other blocks.. patterns are easy to follow.recommend this to anyone that is interested in quilting.

I love optical illusion quilts, haven't made any yet though.
