Fun chemistry experiment. Fun & educational.
I received this chemistry experiment kit from the Amazon Vine Program. My son loves it. The kit provides a great hands-on experiment that is both fun and educational. It's a wonderful way to introduce kids to basic chemistry concepts while keeping them engaged with an exciting, erupting volcano. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, making it suitable for children to do with minimal adult supervision. This kit not only sparks curiosity but also helps develop critical thinking and scientific inquiry skills.Overall, it's really good for encouraging a love of science in young learners.

4 year old fun
My 4 year old had lots of fun with this. It needs to be watched by adult at all times but great 1 to 1 fun

Great little activity, good for educational fun and kids who like getting messy!
This is a nice set and is great for getting kids interested in science from a young age. In the set you get some plastic dinosaur and plant toys and then two volcanos, one of them is a black plastic volcano and the other is made out of a soft plaster, this is so it can be ‘excavated’ using the tools provided and inside it has some dinosaur fossils as well as some pretty stones/rocks. Before excavating you can use it to make a ‘snow’ volcano using the materials provided, you just need to dig down into the volcano crater a bit to get more of a well. The plastic volcano we used for the ‘lava’ volcano and the kids had fun playing with the dinosaur toys around the erupting volcano. They enjoyed excavating the other volcano but it did make quite a mess, we decided to put an old blanket on the kitchen floor for both the volcano and excavating activities which I’m glad I did as although they had fun, it was messy fun, which is usually the preferred type of fun for kids!

Fun but messy
This kit comes with 2 volcanoes, one plastic and one made from plaster, three bottles of chemicals, digging tools, and various dinosaurs and plants you can use to decorate your volcano. There's two main activities, creating 'eruptions' of lava or snow, and excavating the plaster volcano. You can use either of the volcanoes for the eruptions, which consist of mixing 2 or 3 chemicals and adding them to the chamber at the top of the volcano, then adding some water to start the eruption. We had fun with our 7 year old daughter decorating the scene with the included dinos and plants and filming the eruption to make our own mini Jurassic Park scenes. The excavation side is incredibly messy and ends up with chunks of plaster and dust everwhere, so is best done outdoors or on a tray to contain the mess. There's several dinosaur skeletons and small gemstones hidden within the plaster volcano which you dig out using the included tools. This kept my daughter's attention going for several hours as she chiselled away and then used the brush to gradually expose the skeletons, and we had fun guessing what kind of dino it might be as we gradually revealed more.Overall this is a really fun kit and has great educational value as well and we enjoyed the activities. For the amount of time we spent on it I think it's good value.

Messy fun
This is an activity best done outside as lots of mess can be created when excavating. Things a very well packaged kit that contains all the necessary chemicals needed that you mix together in the top of the volcano to provide an erupting volcano effect. Another activity that can be done with this kit is excavating the volcano to discover gems and dinosaur skeletons. Great value for money as this is an interactive learning experience teaching your children about chemistry, geology and how volcanoes are formed.

More excavation than explosion
The media could not be loaded. Having built volcano’s in school before, some more messy ones as well, we were holding off playing with it in the garden. Eventually settled into using a large backing pan expecting the worst. We tried the clay volcano with the citric acid and baking powder, dripping the coloured water in created a bit of a fizz and little else. Even as it overflowed with fizzy water it was just very lack lustre. We moved to the plastic volcano hoping that the absorbent resin that holds 100 times it’s weight in water was going to be much better. Sadly not really. The kit is well presented, and for the younger kids you’re probably best off using the clay volcano first to help ‘dig’ out the middle so they can play excavation heros to find the 3 hidden dinos and the fancy rocks hidden within, while you setup and show them the plastic foam eruption. At least the kids will have something to keep themselves entertained with at that point.I really wish there was more tools provided. It feels like a kit for a couple of kids to enjoy, but at the end you only get one set of tools. A poking stick and a brush. You do get some cool looking dinos in the end with some odd trees, and a few jem/pebbles.On the plus side there was a lot of the powdered for multiple tries and the resin does puff up given time and can be fun for the dinos to stomp through.

Great fun
Had some great fun with my nephew enjoying this kit. The kit includes all the chemicals needed for both volcanoes. One volcano you have to destroy carefully to find the gem. The other one simulates a volcanic eruption. My nephew absolutely loved doing both of these, they were so much fun. I think this kit is a great value for money and gives a good few hours of entertainment.

Good for all ages
This kit has given a lot of enjoyment for my grandkids. The youngest loved creating the volcano and seeing the ‘lava’ pour down the sides. Her older sister spent ages hacking into the volcano looking for hidden treasures. There is enough of the chemicals included to ensure the experiments can be repeated a few times.
