A MUST for when making pasta especially!
These are awesome. I am so happy that I purchased these. I previously had just the larger size which works great, but I love that I now have 2 that are the bigger size and one that is the smaller size. It truly does help with getting things to boil faster and most importantly, NOT SPILL OVER. I use my especially for when I make pasta as I always find that pasta always wants to boil over on me. But whenever I use these, not the case anymore. I just gave the big one (reluctantly) to my mother who lives downstairs from me, who always has her soups or stews etc boiling over and the stove becomes a mess. Honestly I am usually more concerned about a fire or some other accident due to the boil overs or her burning herself trying to clean it up since she is 71 years old. Now I do not have to worry about that. She puts it on, and that's it. You do have to be careful when removing it though, so that you do not burn yourself with the steam that you are at that point releasing, but that is sort of common sense (just like removing a lid - steam will then be released). Other than that caution, it works great! I have NOT attempted to put it in the dishwasher at all. I had something melt in there a couple years ago and I am not taking that chance again period, even on the top rack. It is easy enough to clean as it doesn't "really" get very dirty. So enjoy!!

Works great, but best for when you don't need to open the lid as much
For the most part, It works as advertised. In fact it works much more effectively than I first imagined when i learned about it from an amazon product article/blog online. I like the fact that it is heat resistant, dishwasher safe, and that it also has a pair of protruding loops that serve as safe handles (to lift/open) while cooking. The surface of the material is technically easy to clean, but the size and the fact that it is curved and "wobbly", makes me want to just let the dishwasher handle it every time. When boiling and simply steaming, where you don't need to open the lid as much throughout your cooking, it works tremendously well - No leaks, with potential spills efficiently getting vented and localized on the concave top of the lid. There are no drips on the sides of the pot/pan, and no resulting splatters around. However, for cooking that requires periodic opening of the lid and stirring, condensation dribbles and leaks to the opposite end of where you lift/open the lid. The heat/steam, together with the condensation, also make the inside of the lid very slippery; and so when you try to partly lift and open the lid, it either slides off with all the messy drips, or partly slides into the food being cooked. This is why I always have a folded paper towel on standby to wipe any anticipated drippings, especially at that point opposite to where I curl/lift open the lid - where all the condensation drips to, before it eventually flows on the outside of the pot/pan. In spite of these observations and remedies, it is undeniable that this innovation still helps a lot, and significantly minimizes spillages/drippings and splatters that would otherwise occur with a traditional lid. One just has to anticipate that although the product works very well, there always has to be ample space nearby for it to rest when one is done using it. As previously mentioned, the curve and wobbly nature of the material makes it a tricky and messy lid to work with immediately after use; especially with all the accumulated condensation on both sides of it. Regardless, it remains an effective and frequently used product in my kitchen.

No more stovetop schmutz!
Love these "flutter valves!" They seal the pot/pan and prevent any overflow, foam, bubbles, etc. from cascading over the sides of the cookware onto the stovetop. My target was for cooking Thanksgiving rutabagas (turnips) because they overflow during the long boil and that overflow turns to burned-on sugar that's crazy-tough to clean! Did my turnips twice now, not a bit of spatter! It flows through the little flower center vents, collects in the silicone lid, rolls back or evaporates. And the water doesn't boil away quickly as before. Success! Works with potatoes too, pasta, whatever.

No boiling over mess
Wife loves these. She cooks a lot and frequently would have pots boil over on the stove creating a baked on mess to clean up. That does not happen now and she continues to comment on how much she loves these covers, and the way they vent without boiling over.

I purchased a set for my daughter-in-law and decided to get myself a set as well. These are such a great idea! I've used them for boiling potatoes, pasta and to prevent pasta sauce from spitting all over my stovetop. They really work well to keep pots from boiling over. They wash up great in the dishwasher (I give them a rinse as soon as I remove them from the pot to prevent the scummy stuff from sticking.) The bright, cheerful colours are fun. I highly recommend these if you don't like cleaning up after boil overs!

Received earlier than stated in the ad, good quality and works great. Used it several times and watched water spill up into the spill over top. No mess on my stove. Highly recommend them.

These are fabulous. I had bought some for my daughter and now I got some for myself. They prevent any boil-over on the stove. Beats having to scrape clean the glass stovetop.
