Review: Great Lap Organizer and Kneeboard - This is the last kneeboard I think I'll ever need. Finally. As a Private Pilot still working my way through IFR and hopefully other training I was searching for a good kneeboard to help organize my cockpit. I use the iPad Mini for my approach plates and weather, of course, but I prefer to write down ATC instructions and ATIS info on paper. I was also looking for multiple solutions for places to store a pen and a few custom checklists I created. I had tried storing the checklists in a pocket to the side and clipping the pen to the ASA Kneeboard I've been using since my PPL training. Unfortunately, neither solution was ideal. The pen, especially, would go missing whenever I really needed it. (I'm so bad with pens that I keep them squirreled around the cabin) I tried a visor organizer, but the visor in my 172 is anchored differently than a typical car visor. I tried a seat belt organizer with the same results. Thankfully, this kneeboard has it all. It has a nice clipboard, narrower but still sufficient to hold the desertcartbasics 8/5.5 note paper I use. It has several pen loops (YAY!) to hold my pens and styluses. And it has a wonderful series of binder loops, though it does not come with clips. (I already had some, so this wasn't an issue.) I was able to cut down some page protectors to fit my small check lists so that when I need them I can view them but otherwise they hang to the left side of my leg, out of the way. The velcro is rock solid and has a great grip and the overall fit and finish is great. It's really a fantastic kneeboard, despite the fact that it's more than double the price of ASA's products. (Having spent thirty dollars on all of those other unsatisfying pen and document storage items, I wish I'd found this first!)

**Q: Where do you find paper and rings that will work with this?**
A: Staples 5 1/2 x 8 sheets work well. Rings are also available there

**Q: Does this work for airplane students as well? Or will it just be in the way? Its as a gift, thanks for your help**
A: Typically, it will work fine for most pilots in most aircraft.  Obviously, smaller aircraft have less space.  A plane like the 152 will be quite cramped with more room in a 172.  The size of the pilot will affect the fit as well. Do they have to use cushions to sit up higher putting their leg closer to the yoke?  Are their legs larger size than average?  But if the aircraft uses a stick rather than a yoke, it won't matter since there won't be interference.  Odds are it will work just fine for most any pilot in any airframe with few exceptions.It is a very well-made kneeboard made right in Idaho and designed by a pilot who is an ex-Air Force fighter jock now flying C-130s in the reserve and 777s for Delta.

**Q: I would use this for the falcon bms flight sim and i would like to know what size tablet would work with this?  any android table recommendations?**
A: I use my I pad on it. I think its 9 in tall

**Q: Are the side pocket and pen holders detachable?**
A: I’ve had this kneeboard for years and love it! As far as I know, the pen holders and side pocket do not detach. I use large metal rings and keep emergency procedures attached for quick access.

I like this kneeboard. It has a clipboard , three pen slots, a small pocket, and on the left side it is setup so you can attach sleeves, templates, etc by using binder rings or zip-ties. Built very well. My only issue is the velcro on the inside seems to be without purpose and in a very unfortunate spot. Solid build quality though. Sits flat on top of the leg and comfortable.
