CAPFEI 54mm Bottomless Portafilter Compatible with 54mm Breville Barista Series and 54mm Sage/Breville Machines (ABS Handle)

Most espresso accessories seem way over priced to me, this one however was a good buy. A bottomless portafilter is basically a handle that holds a basket. This one fits my Breville Bambino Plus, perfectly. There was a basket included with it, that looks great. I didn't look at it under a microscope, but I did hold it up to a window and all the holes appear to be completely cut and punched out. I tried the included basket with the portafilter and did have some sprays, is my puck prep great? Probably not, I am a beginner--however I do understand the purpose of a bottomless portafilter, unlike some of the other reviewers. The bottomless filter is used to help you identify any issues with your puck prep, some of those issues will cause sprays. This portafilter itself, is NOT the cause of sprays. I do think the single wall double basket that came with my Breville Bambino probably is superior to the one included with this portafilter, because with identical puck prep, it does give better shots. I didn't purchase the portafilter for the basket though, so regardless I feel this was an excellent purchase for the cost. The handle is able to be unscrewed from the portafilter, not sure why you would want to but just wanted to mention that.

It took a few attempts, but once I figured out the grind size and tamp pressure for this, I'm never going back to a regular portafilter. I can see why people get frustrated and go back to a stock portafilter, but I think its mostly user error. Its very easy to clean and feels alot more solid than the one that came with my machine. I am using the Breville Bambino and it works perfectly. The handle I received is solid black, and I was hoping for more of a wood grain, but the handle just screws on and off, so it would be very easy to switch it out for another handle. The basket part itself is very well made and for the price, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try out a naked portafilter for themselves.

Use it every day. Love to see how the shot is pulling before I taste it. Sturdy, a bit lighter than the stock Breville double spout. Fits the machine perfectly. Also bought a 16-18g competizion filter basket from ims and fits great. Could use a really huge basket with this if you wanted since it can’t bottom out.

Good visual control during extraction and makes good froth, its super easy to clean afterwards because you don't need to remove the little coffee screen, a piece that is often difficult to take appart on the original. I also Love that you don't need to foam milk.
