Five CD set. Hot on the heels of last year's Humble Pie's Official Bootleg Box Set Volume 1 comes the Official Bootleg Box Set Volume 2, collating rare and previously (officially) unreleased live shows that were illicitly recorded between 1971 and 1981. Whilst every effort has been made to produce the best possible audio, limitations in the material drawn from various, non-standard, and un-official sources means that the quality may not be up to the standard usually expected. All tracks have been included for their historical importance, and to present an anthology of Humble Pie live on stage from 1971-1981. The Official Bootleg Box Set Volume 2 is a raw testament to what this band did best; playing bluesy, gutsy, soulful hard rock, live on stage. Drawn from a variety of mainly audience recordings that have previously only been available as "under the counter" pirate releases, this is an honest, often unforgiving, tribute to a classic and much missed '70s super-group.

A Mixed Bag
Since Pie fans rarely worry about performance, I'll mainly focus on sound quality.NY Academy '71 - audience recording with no tape hiss or distortion, fairly balanced instruments, and decent clarity. The problem is that the taper is too distant from the stage, so the instrument separation is poor and the soundfield narrow. Does he move closer as the show goes on? Yes, some about half way through, but he never gets real close. Overall = B- P.s. for one of his first shows with the band, Clempson blends in quite well!Boston '72 - The taper is closer to the stage, though not up front, resulting in a wider soiundstage and more instrumental distinction. The bad news is that the lower frequencies are too prominent, so the bass tends to drown out the guitars and vocals in some songs, particularly the faster numbers. There's also some tape hiss, though not severe. I'd give it a BPhilly '75 - A gem! A nice soundboard with a balanced mix. I wish it wasn't only four songs. An A-Midnight special "73 - The broadcast recording would have been decent but it's marred by mid and treble distortion static. I'd say it's a B-'81 NY and LA - Outstanding soundboards = A!! Sadly, these show the band in its waning time, just before the end. The song selections aren't that strong and the sets are fairly short. Of the two, I much prefer L.A. - the band plays harder and sounds tighter, in part due to the loss of all the equipment to a thief just before the NY show.For me, the buy was worth it for the Philly show excerpt and the '81 LA - the rest I likely won't listen to again but I suggest you try it .

Good old rock and roll humble pie has the best feel for rock since the rolling stones the long jam of 30 days in the hole on cd 4 is outstanding

ANOTHER ROUND OF DECENT HUMBLE PIE SHOWS FROM EARLY TO THE END OF THERE TIME.......
i am glad to have this second volume in the humble pie bootleg box series but as i said a year ago when i reviewed the first volume THESE ARE BOOTLEG TO SOUNDBOARD RECORDINGS WITH NO OVERDUBS. what you will hear across these discs is how they sounded if you where there at the gig in 1971 or 1981, true it is a bit to bad that the late 70s early 80s stuff is the best sound quality here as they are soundboard recordings but i have had that 71 gig for years and nothing was touched up for it to complete this box set, in a way i kind of like it that way as a lot of old shows like the fillmore east who show from 1968 that was recently released had a bit of recent work done to the original tapes from 50 years ago to enhance the sound, there is nothing wrong with that but i have been listening to various boots of that show from 1968 and i tend to like the unofficial recordings better like you get here on this humble pie bootleg box, these where not released to sound great but to bring you back in time to what the original show sounded like, i know it is lousy when someones tape hisses or is distant but always remember bootleggers where not pros, anyway not sure if we will get a third volume here but im happy with these two from 2017 and this one from 2018. i wish this classic band the best of luck getting into the rock n roll hall of shame the same as i wish mountain the same luck..................................... sad the best bands from the 70s will probably never be in there but hip hop crap gets in there NO PROBLEM sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boxset Volume 2
Cant fault the boxset. Yes it isnt great sound quality but it has the raw power of HUMBLE PIE LIVE. These discs have completed my set of all H P Boxsets and I am very happy with it

ファンの性(さが)とは、何と哀しいものなのでしょうか・・・。かつて本欄で、オフィシャル・ブートレッグvol.1を、「ジェリー・シャーリーの小遣い稼ぎ、音質最悪 云々」とこき下ろしたにもかかわらず、vol.2の存在を知ると気になって、少し価格が下がったから、と自分に言い訳し、遂にはカートに入れてしまうのです。各ディスクの曲目紹介のみなので、それぞれの収録時期を記しておきます。ディスク1はピーター・フランプトンが脱退し、我が愛するクレム・クレムソンが加入直後の1971年12月3日ニューヨークでのライヴから、「フォア・デイ・クリープ」「カモン・エヴリバディ」「スウィート・ピース・アンド・タイム」「ハレルヤ (アイ・ラヴ・ハー・ソー)」など8曲を収録しています。ディスク2は翌72年3月6日ボストンでのライヴ(9曲収録)で、セットリストはディスク1とほぼ同じながらも、クレム・クレムソンもすっかりバンドに馴染みソロも披露するなど、ライヴ・バンドのとしての成長が感じられる内容になっています。ディスク3は第一期ハンブル・パイのラスト・アルバムとなる『ストリート・ラッツ』発表直後の75年3月15日のフィラデルフィアでのライヴから、「フォア・デイ・クリープ」「ストーン・コールド・フィーヴァー」「カモン・エヴリバディ」「ノー・ドクター」を、そして73年11月30日TV番組『ミッドナイト・スペシャル』でブラックベリーズと共演した「オー・ラ・ディ・ダ」「ノー・ドクター」「30デイズ・イン・ザ・ホール」を収録しています。ディスク4はスティーヴ・マリオット(vo, g)、ジェリー・シャーリー(ds)に、新たにジェフ・ベック・グループのボブ・テンチ(g)、そしてアンソニー・ジョーンズ(b)の2人を加え、再結成した第2期ハンプル・パイが復活2作目となるアルバム『ゴー・フォー・ザ・スロート』録音後の81年3月25日ニューヨークのライヴから8曲、ディスク5はその2か月後のロサンゼルスでのライヴから8曲をそれぞれ収録しています。そんなことより、音質はどうなんだ?という声が聞こえるようです。未だレビューがないということは、人気がないのかもしれません。でも、このレビューを読んでくださる奇特な方に、残念ながらあくまでブートであり、一般向けではないとお知らせしなければならないのは悲しいですね。5枚を聴き終えて思うことは、やはりクレムソン/リドリー/シャーリー/マリオットの4人がベストメンバーだったということ。グレッグ・リドリーの野太いヴォーカルは、ほんとうに得難いものだったということです。ジェリー・シャーリーさん、まだ手持ちのライヴ音源はおありなのでしようか。楽しみのような、もういい加減に打ち止めにしてほしいような・・・。フリー、フェイセズ、そしてハンブル・パイ。この3バンドの呪縛から、生涯私は抜け出せないのかも・・・。
