Works well
Works as described. I used this with my Sony FDR-AX53 Handycam. It allows me to take a Line Out level from my audio mixer and feed that into the mic input of the Handycam. The 1/8-inch jacks are gold plated and there is also a gain control.

Useful inexpensove attenuator, but not very accurate
I bought this "Cubilux 3.5mm Line Level to Microphone Level Attenuator Cable" in order to connect between a stereo line-level output from a stereo audio system and the "MIC/EXT IN" jack of a TASCAM DR-05X (would also apply to a DR-07X) handheld digital audio recorder, which expects the signals to be much lower than line-level.It works, but at least on my example, I think it is cheaply made and not very reliable. I heard crackling in the audio when adjusting the attenuation thumbwheel. The resulting (attenuated) output was not evenly attenuated, so signals that had good balance between left and right on the INPUT were noticeably louder on the left side OUTPUT signal. Since I can correct for this in my digital audio editing software, I can live with it for a while, but I have already purchased a more professional quality attenuator to replace it.

Crackly audio upon adjustment
Crackly audio upon adjustment, and couldn’t even get a clean signal at almost any adjusted position. It simply doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. Unusable sound quality and device in general, for me.

Handy gadget
Despite the two male plug complaint, this simple gadget does a great job. I have used it with both a video camera and a mirrorless camera connected to a church sound board. A little adjustment with the thumb wheel and no more audio distortion on video live feed.

good attenuator
I bought the attenuator to use with the mic in on my panasonic v770 camcorder to get more precise levels for my audio so far works really well and no problems with dropped audo or anything, would probably gave 5 stars but the volume adjustment is really touchy you barley have to move the small dial and the volume goes up and down a lot so it takes a little xtra adjusting to get right for your application. That might be a little to picky and might work just fine for most but it can be a little frustrating when you are recording on camcorder and find out after words that audio is too low and can't hear clearly or too high.

I was expecting a fixed attenutator cable; not one with a VOLUME control on it
Using this to attentuate LTC timecode out of a MixPre-6 II to a Sony camera via the MIC input on the camera. The MixPre 6 has a LINE level output; the Sony only has mic level. Neither device can compensate output/input levels adequately to make this work.I need to find something else that won't get maladjusted in the field when there are 1000 other things to worry about.

What a fantastic tiny tool!
As a pt time hobby musician I do use plenty of volume adjustment tools and remember the old days of many cords and crazy setups. I have a few stereo link and booster items today but this one is a first. So very tiny, excellent! Great for attaching phone and smaller devices to any speaker set up since I can change the input volume to optimize output (even for Bluetooth, I can do a separate interface link).Definitely great for travel without the bulk! Love this

Doesn’t work
Plugged it into speaker and a recorder and only got static interference
