An extra star for the title.
In the context of British police procedurals, this is better than most. The performances aren't outstanding but most are very good, particularly the priest and the MP. This might have to do with the particular gripes of the director over certain aspects of British Brexit society, but the main point, "Collateral", is not driven home and I wasn't convinced by the casting of the "villains" or the exposition of the military connection. The emphasis is on the inhumanity of British immigration policy and its implementation without a clear reference to this case of illegal immigration's being a direct result of the illegal British invasion and destruction of the country of origin. But at least the BBC had the guts to put it in the title. So five stars. Also nice to see Sam Mitchell again - more of her please.

I thought Kip Glaspie did a good job but her underling did nothing and they could ...
I agree with one other reviewer: the show tried to take on too many issues. I thought Kip Glaspie did a good job but her underling did nothing and they could have cut expenses by not having him in the show. Then they tossed in a lesbian vicar (and we really like Nicola Walker) and I have no sympathy for those who break laws and enter a country illegally. So a 3 tops.

Ok!
Decent BBC thriller, but a bit disapointing. Mulligan is however great as the female detective.

Don’t believe the naysayers, this is excellent!
Don’t believe the naysayers. This is a smart, well written, well acted drama. There are sub-plots that remain unresolved, no dramatic, last episode, tidying up of loose ends. The characters are not one dimensional - good people who do bad things, bad people who do good things. Blurred boundaries. Exactly like real life. It’s an excellent and enjoyable ensemble piece that should leave the viewer taking a long hard look at themselves (and their country). And no, I am not a radical ‘Lefty’, just someone who appreciates good, thought provoking, ‘Human’ drama when he sees it.
