Zoom PodTrak P4 Podcast Recorder, Battery Powered, 4 Microphone Inputs, 4 Headphone Outputs, Phone and USB Input for Remote Interviews, Sound Pads, 2-In/2-Out Audio Interface

I produce/edit podcasts for many clients. A couple of my clients use the Podtrack P4 and it has been pretty great for them. The Podtrack P4 is purpose-built for doing interviews, both in-person (with up to 4 mics) and via skype/zoom -- or via phone. With a mixer or other audio interfaces recording high quality remote interviews can get really complicated. It just works out of the box with the P4. So my clients can just focus on doing the interview, instead of all the tech. The files they send me are good. Each person gets their own track so you can totally work it in post production. The preamps are good enough to use dynamic mics, like SM58s, etc.... I bought mine for doing field interviews. And, actually, because of the ease of recording calls and skype etc...., I sometimes opt for using this over my much more expensive RME Babyface Pro interface for remote calls. And, the safety of recording to an external device is nice, don't have to worry about a computer glitch losing the interview. You really can't go wrong with this unit. I have a few nits, but they aren't even worth mentioning, really. For the price you are paying, what this thing can do is nuts. It replaces so many pieces of kit and gets the job done.

Es realmente una gran opción para creación de contenido. Empecé mi proyecto de podcast y me ha sido de maravilla por su portabilidad ya que no necesito de nada más que la grabadora. Eso lo hace más fácil. El material si no me agradó para nada ya que se siente muy frágil y por ahí leí que antes de incluía baterías. La calidad de audio me encantó, sin duda la mejor inversión que hice, tanto así que estoy vendiendo mis otros equipos. Pienso comprar la p2 a futuro.

Good piece of gear. Best part is the mobility. Fairly easy to use and set up. Would recommend you research it as I did to ensure it suits. It may not be the right decision for everyone, but for me it works really well.

I have recorded this device with the following mics: Rode NT1, Broadcaster, Procaster, Podmic, Shure SM57, EV RE20 and they all performa dmirably well. The pre-amps are performing very well for such a small device. Having 4 headphone outputs is amazing. Sound quality is really good and the only drawbacks I can find is that you have only a low cut and limiter filter - no compressor or EQ AND the recording at 16bit/44.1kHz only - these two additions would make this also a perfect streaming device. But regardless, this device is worth its money. I love using it.
