Lumix DMW-bmb9 battery review
I purchased by Lumix DMW-FZ100 camera from Amazon months ago now and am using the original BMB9 battery that came with it. It has EXCELLENT battery life, no problem at all, EXCEPT I have always carried spare batteries for long photo ops and also to let my battery run out completely. Then I put a new battery in the camera. The problem is that Panasonic has been VERY slow to get this battery on the market so you can get and carry spares for the cameras that use it. I have just ordered two batteries. I carry two fully charged batteries with me and let the one in the camera discharge fully through use. I cycle the batteries carefully, so that the one charged most recently is used last.It is possible that keeping a battery fully charged without letting it run down reduces capacity to recharge fully. I'm not sure that happens with this kind of battery. It may help to fully discharge the battery and then recharge it. You might have to do that twice. DO NOT DISCHARGE THE BATTERY BY HAVING METAL CROSS CONNECT THE BATTERY CONTACTS. IT RUINS THE BATTERIES TO DO THIS.It is also true that a COLD battery will not function well and must be warmed to work. I keep my spares in an inside pocket in cold weather so they will be ready for use. I also have got a small case for the camera itself on a neck strap so that I can tuck the camera inside my coat in cold weather, use it, and tuck it away again, so that the battery stays warm enough to work.Years ago we used to refrigerate batteries to make them go dormant and last longer in between photo shoots, but you had to warm the batteries before your session or they would not work.I've just ordered two of these batteries to use in my cycling routine with camera batteries. I always have two fully charged batteries with me and one in the camera which I discharge fullly.I have no idea if these suggestions will address the problems of people with battery problems or not. If the batteries are defective, notify Panasonic and see if they can get you fresh ones so you can use your camera.Hope these suggestions help. I do want to say the Lumix DMW-FZ100 is one very nice camera, has some really unusual capabilities, and you MUST read the directions and study the specs to get the best our of it.Good luck.

Mr.
Panasonic DMW-BMB99 Lithium-ion Battery is working very well. However, this one has only 895 mAhwhich I think too small I think it should have a capacity of 1500 mAh to be good enough. So I give it a grade of 4 stars.

Panasonic Lithium-Ion Battery DMW-BMB9 for Lumix Cameras FZ100K
Even though the OEM versions of these batteries are more expensive they are far more reliable and hold a charge far longer than the off-brahd and much cheaper versions.

Can't tell the difference
Since purchasing and using this battery, I cannot tell the difference between it and the one that came with the camera! I love having the spare battery so that I can switch out as soon as the one in the camera is used....and being an authentic Panasonic battery, I am able to see all the *info* available when using the original one. I definitely recommend having a second battery - an original one for sure - so that you do not miss any important shots! Both batteries charge rather quickly in either the charger that came w/the camera (and plugs into a wall socket) or with the extra charger I got to use in a lighter socket/regular socket in a car or RV.

The Only Battery to Buy for Backup
So far, I have never found a camera battery replacement that worked as well as the manufacture's badged batteries, e.g., Cannon, Nikon, Linux. They are horribly overprice, but it seems it is the only way to acquire a backup that actually works -- reasonably well, anyway.

Original
Correct battery for camera

Very poor durability for a rechargeable battery.
I have had both Lumix and off brand models of this battery that, after about a year, became unable to hold a charge for more than a week or two when not in use. This has to be one of the most disappointing rechargeable batteries I have ever encountered.
