finest is size 5. 3 is thicker and good for crochet.

Is the thread size 10?

Not to sure if size 10 is relevant to a certain type of yarn but this one is labelled a size 5 on the ball . I also use a size 3 in the same makes . Although size 5 is higher than a 3 the yarn of a 5 is thinner than a 3

Has anyone used this for knitting?

No but have used it for crocheting. Very fine and used two strands together. I think this would be very difficult to knit with.
