A High-Value "Must-Have" for the Car or Junk Drawer
I recently picked up this Craftsman 10-Piece Metric 3/8-inch Drive Set, and for the price point (especially when on sale), it’s hard to beat. While modern Craftsman tools are no longer made in the USA, this set proves they still know how to design a high-quality tool for the enthusiast and DIYer. The Standout: The Ratchet The real star of this kit is the updated low-profile ratchet. It’s surprisingly high quality for a budget set: Low Back Drag: It clicks smoothly without needing much force, which is essential in tight engine bays. Smart Design: The backing plate uses screws that thread into the plate itself rather than the body. This is a "pro-level" feature that makes it easier to service and prevents you from ruining the whole tool if a screw strips. Thin Head: It’s noticeably thinner than older Craftsman designs, allowing it to fit into those annoying cramped spaces. Build & Sockets The sockets are solid with a high-polish chrome finish that cleans up easily. They aren't "thin-walled" to the point of being fragile, but they aren't overly bulky either. While I wish it included a 19mm or a small extension, the sizes provided cover about 90% of basic household and automotive tasks. The Case Surprisingly, the blow-molded case features a metal rod hinge. Most cheap sets use a plastic "living hinge" that snaps off after a year of use, so seeing a real hinge here is a huge plus for long-term durability. The only downside is that the case doesn't stack particularly well with other tool systems, but it’s compact enough to toss under a car seat or in a tool bag. The Bottom Line Is it the "Old School" USA-made Craftsman? No. But is it a dependable, smooth-functioning set with a Full Lifetime Warranty? Absolutely. At under $20, it’s a no-brainer for a secondary set to keep in your vehicle for emergencies. Pros: Excellent 72-tooth ratchet with low back drag. Durable case with metal hinge. Incredible value-to-price ratio. Lifetime warranty peace of mind. Cons: Missing a 19mm socket and extension. Case isn't stackable.

Surprisingly good
Very nice ratchet for the price. I wish it included a small extension and 19mm but that's just being picky. This is a perfect set to keep in the car or just to have around the house for basic automotive repairs. Sockets are good quality, nice chrome and not super thin. The case is blow molded plastic with an actual metal rod hinge which isn't common on inexpensive sets like this. The best part is the ratchet, it's surprisingly high quality. Low back drag, thin and narrow head, decent chrome, and the screws thread into the backing plate not the body of the ratchet. Usually you only see this on more expensive ratchets so I was pleasantly surprised to see it here. Benefit is if you strip out the screws you can just replace the backing plate instead of damaging threads in the body of the ratchet. I cleaned off the included oil and added some super lube and while it was maybe a hair smoother afterwards it already felt pretty smooth out of the box. Gear teeth are decently deep and the paw makes good contact with a large number of them when in use. I doubt you could strip out this ratchet by hand without a a cheater bar. For under $20 dollars I can't say enough good things about this set. I bought the SAE set just so I could have another ratchet, for the current price there's no reason not to buy this.

Awesome Rachet Kit
Alright, buckle up, folks—let’s talk about the Craftsman 3/8 Ratchet Kit! This little beauty is like a Swiss Army knife had a baby with a precision watch, and they were raised by MacGyver. Low-profile ratchet? Oh, it’s so sleek it could moonlight as a ninja. You need to squeeze into a tight spot? This ratchet will whisper, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this,” and it’s in there faster than you can say, “Where’d I put that bolt?” Now, let’s chat about the 72-tooth ratchet—72 teeth! That’s smoother than a jazz saxophone in a smoky club. It gives you a glorious 5-degree arc swing, which is just a fancy way of saying it works like magic in spaces so cramped you’d need a contortionist to reach them otherwise. And the 6-point socket design? That’s not just torque, my friends—that’s torque with style. It grabs onto those bolts and doesn’t let go, like a dog with a bone or me with a good cup of coffee. Corrosion resistance? Full polish chrome finish, baby. This thing shines like it’s auditioning for a Broadway musical and keeps rust at bay like it’s been vaccinated against it. But wait—there’s more! The lifetime warranty. Yes, Craftsman’s saying, “We’ll stand by you forever, like the world’s most reliable best friend.” And you know, it’s hard not to love a tool that loves you back. So, in summary, the Craftsman 3/8 Ratchet Kit isn’t just a tool—it’s a tiny miracle worker. Whether you’re a professional mechanic or just someone trying to put together a wobbly IKEA shelf, this kit says, “Relax, I’ve got you.” Five stars, two thumbs up, and a standing ovation. Bravo, Craftsman! Bravo!

It is a nice ratchet set
Bought this because it was thinner than most ratches, and I have tight place to change spark plugs. I have not tried changing them yet, but it was a nice package to take on vacation.

Some sockets are dull, while others are shiny. I am not sure why. Functionally, a low profile ratchet with a high tooth count. Good for tight spaces.
