Very easily replaced my existing 13amp socket, much better than having a plug in switch as it allows, in my case, to have the controlled unit tight to the wall.

I installed this socket behind a wall mounted TV to turn it off over night and save some power. After initial set up all was working well.However after 18 months use the TV it was controlling started to switch off without instruction after just a few minutes use. I thought the TV was broken and bought a replacement (£400!!). but the new TV had the same issue??? Turns out it was the plug that was broken not the TV and I'd just wasted £400 replacing a perfectly good TV.There is another review on here about a thermal cut off issue I suspect its the same thing.Stay clear of this product buy a recognised brand were possible. I've got BG double sockets and they've been working great for years

Works well, recognised by Alexa no problems. Large mounting box required, we live in an older property without recessed boxes, so looks a little strange in comparison to other boxes around our home - but it works, installed behind a cabinet to control power to TV and sound system so not really noticeable. Easily added to home automation routines within the Alexa App and echo devices. Have brought two more to control power to kids computers and consoles. WIFI can be a bit flaky, but that might be our walls more than an issue with the product. It does catch up once connected.

A standard 25mm backbox isn't big enough for this, it just about fits but you need extra space because the wires go straight into the back.When installed it looks very smart and works really well. It's responsive when used through both Alexa and the app too.

I saw the depth of the socket was 3.6 mm back to front so added spacers to 25mm back boxes. What is not apparent until you get it is that the rear of the socket fills most of the back box making it very difficult to get the wires routed so you can screw the socket in. The terminals are poor fitted with low grade screws. OK for a spur with a single cable but on a ring with two cables difficult to grip two wires in each terminal. Due to the lack of space at the back invariably one wire pops out when pushing the socket in and took many attempts before fitted securely. The instructions are poorly interpreted and it is unclear how to add a second control device. The instructions say do it from AP or standby mode but there is no mention of how you get to these modes without resetting the socket. Do that and the first device is lost. There is an option on Smart Life to share the device but you must set up an account and register, not willing to do that. Importers of these products should check instructions and test fit these products before selling them. They work but pain to fit and I've yet to work out how to add a second control device.

Bought these to switch kids tv off at night however found terminal connectors on the back are too small to fit the cables in that are currently in existing socket so unable to fit yet look good quality though just terminal could do with being standard size as I’m sockets

Nice and modern, work well with Alexa, very easy set up. Wire connectors are good with easy access to the screw at the top. The back is actually bigger than it looks in the seller photos and does need a deep back box, I would say 35mm as a minimum or even bigger if there's 2 sets of wires in the box. The front indicator gives a blue hue when off and a pink/blue hue when on, this can be controlled either by WiFi or physical pressing.UPDATE: Unfortunately not a very good item. We hadn't used this as it installed at the top of a flight of stairs with the intention of having a tall lamp there that we could control by Alexa. It was tested to see if it turned on and off at time of install, however once we found a suitable lamp and plugged it in turned it on, it only stayed on for around 2 minutes and then turned off due to the thermal cut-off. The item is not fit for purpose and will need to be removed.

This does work well the thing when ordering is that you do need a deep back box.
