JulboWhoops Performance Sunglasses, Matte Black/White Frame - REACTIV 1-3 Yellow Light Amplifier Lens

Excellent quality lenses they work in sun! What a difference, this is 3rd pair from Julbo!!

I wanted to write a quick review on this since there seems to be some question about the size of these sunglasses. When looking into them I kept seeing “small” and “suitable for older children” and things like that. Well I was hesitant to purchase based on that. I’m pleased to say that, while obviously they aren’t going to work for people with large heads, they fit a medium male just fine. I have a somewhat narrow face with a high nose bridge and cheekbones and they fit very well. I usually wear what would be considered a medium or medium/large for good coverage. As a discontinued item Julbo is selling these at a phenomenal price for a NXT Reactiv lens. The frame isn’t the highest quality ever but for hiking, jogging, or anything active they are fine and stay in place well. The Reactiv 1-3 Light amplifier is very versatile and handles most light situations from almost full dark to moderately bright sun. Would not be my first choice for a bluebird day with high UV index but they do get darker than I thought they would.

Had a pair of julbo photochromatics that last me 7 years before I broke the ear piece. Ordered these an hour later and very pleased so far. Old ones were cat 2-4 and I was worried these wouldn't be dark enough in the alpine but they are just about perfect for Colorado high elevation while almost perfect in cloudy conditions.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I purchased other no name brands of sunglasses, those never darkened in the sun. These change dramatically within 30 seconds to a minute. This is a well known brand with quality products. Lastly the price on these was under 50 dollars. One point of note the photo chromic lenses only darken because of the sun's uv rays. Most cars windshields block out most of those rays. The do darken a little bit in my car but not nearly as much as being outside.

I use them mostly for trail riding. They help improve contrast perception for low light conditions (overcast, or foggy days). They do OK on bright days but I would rather use darker lenses for that. They are built well and have a tight but comfortable fit on my rather large head. They work well with a helmet and stay in place even on rough ground.

Low quality and doesn't look good

The coverage is great. The rate of changing the tint is awesome.
