I am 42" chest / 34" waist and I always buy size L as after washing the shirts tend shrink very very slightly. Size XL is too big for me even after washing but may possibly be better for a 46" waistline. It also depends on the style and cut of shirt you choose but the Gingham shirts are not particularly generous in size. I would always go at least one size up from your normal size if not two as the size L is more like a medium after washing. Ive bought a few "charles wilson" shirts now, and they all are smaller than the label size, so definitly go a size up if ordering any. The shirt is good quality for the price. However what I am sick of is paying out for named brands only to find the quality and life span is mediocre. When my so called top quality jeans gave up the ghost after very little wear I decided enough was enough and starting looking around to see what else was available. I cam across CW slim jeans at a very low price, I ordered a pair expecting them to be rubbish only to be surprised by the quality, fit and look. I straight away ordered another pair in a different colour way and then decided to see what else CW had to offer. I ordered these 2 shirts for winter at a price that seemed to good to be true. They promptly arrived this morning, whilst a little tighter than my usual medium size once again I was struck but the quality and look of them. Excellent shirt at a good price. But just one negative comment, the shirt is to short! Someone else has already mentioned this and say they are now three inches shorter in length. That loses one star for me, as do prefer a short I don't have to keep tucking in! and have had to revisit this review, as the shortness of this shirt has become so annoying when wearing it.
