Works great on a 2025 HP Omen Max 16
This review is for the Llano V12 Ultra. I purchased this after seeing a recommendation from Salem Techsperts. The Setup: I’m using this to cool a 2025 HP Omen Max 16 (Ryzen 9 HX 375 / RTX 5080). My laptop still has stock thermal paste. I don’t use the Llano's front securing arms; the memory foam seal holds the laptop in place perfectly with zero air leaks. Cooling Performance: The cooling is exactly as advertised. Under heavy load (Cyberpunk 2077), I saw a 20°C drop on my CPU and a 10°-15°C drop on my GPU. My CPU naturally runs hotter, so the extra headroom is huge. Features & Software: Functionality: I use the first level of the rear elevation feet. Controls: I tested the Myth.Cool software, which is a nice touch for Windows users, but I personally prefer using the physical fan roller and buttons on the unit itself. RGB Lighting: I thought it would be purely aesthetic, but because it lights up the base, it actually makes it much easier to see the ports on the side/back of my laptop in a dark room. You can also dim or turn it off entirely. USB Hub: It acts as a 3-port USB-A extension. Note that the cooler is powered by its own small power adapter (roughly the size of a phone charger), not by the USB port itself. Noise Levels: The fan starts to get audible around 800 RPM. I haven’t needed to go above 1,250 RPM, which is my personal limit for "tolerable" noise. At its max of 2,800 RPM, it sounds like a jet engine. However, if you wear noise-canceling headphones, you won't notice it at all. I highly recommend using a good headset if you plan to crank the speed. Build & Maintenance: The unit is sturdy plastic and light enough to fit in a large laptop bag for travel. A huge plus is the filtration system. It comes with one filter pre-installed and one spare. I bought three extra, though I likely won't need them for a long time. My laptop vents are staying pristine because the Llano catches everything first. Final Verdict: I wouldn’t recommend this for "lap usage" or tight coffee shop tables, as it's clearly designed for a dedicated workstation or desk setup. It’s a great way to give a high-end laptop desktop-level thermals and protect your investment.
