Great heating packs
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I love these wonderful heating packs. First, they always work – unlike one's I purchased from another brand. I use the smaller ones on the plane because I get bad ear aches so it is crucial that they be reliable; they are. I keep the bigger ones in my bedside cabinet for when I get tummy aches. They are easy to activate and heat up right away. I massage them a little to get them flat, wrap them in a light cloth because they do get hot, and use them in the right spot. Second, it is easy to boil them gently to reset them, and then they cool off and are ready for next time. These packs are great! Thank you.

The good and the bad
I'm rating these 5 stars because I'm definitely a fan. But it's not all good news to report, so I'll give you the good and the bad. First the good. Because these are re-usable, these things do save you a lot of money. Also, they get much hotter than most hand warmers, and they're really fun to use, and to show off to people. Seriously. FUN! However, they don't last very long before cooling off. I generally only get 10 minutes of strong heat, and then another 15 to 20 minutes of it slowing going from warm to cold. There are things you can do to make the heat last a little longer, like kneading them repeatedly. Also, if you keep them in your pocket, they last longer than if they're out in the cold air (logical, right). And someone else suggests you heat them up before activating them, which slows the 'freezing' (heating) process (I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds like it makes sense). Another thing is, it can be a bit of a pain having to take the time to boil these every day after using them, and personally, I've been lazy about it, and often let them sit for several days before boiling them. This is something you need to avoid doing. You need to boil them down right away. Don't let them sit in their hardened state. If they're allowed to sit, for some reason, when you do try to boil them down later you'll have a much harder time, and sometimes not be able to at all. I don't know why this is, but it just is. I've ruined a lot of them that way. So, learn from my mistake. Also, regarding their pretty color and appearance - don't expect it to last. The color fades quick, and they start to look really ugly. But it's not about looks, right?

Works
Reusable enough. Eventually they stop working, but get nicely warm and stay that way a while.

Great science project, meh survival tool.
These sound like the greatest invention ever—and don’t get me wrong, they’re fun as hell to play with. Click the little coin inside, and you get an instant chemical reaction with heat. But do they actually keep you warm? Not for long. The listing promises up to 40 minutes, but in my experience, you get about 15 minutes of real warmth before the temperature starts dropping faster than my hopes for this product. The good: Awesome for showing kids how exothermic crystallization works. It’s like a magic trick. Super easy to recharge—just boil them for a few minutes and they’re back to “new.” Tough enough for daily handling. Never worried about them popping or leaking. Come in different sizes, but don’t expect more heat—just maybe a little more time from the bigger ones. The not-so-good: Not very hot. Never got to the “ahhh, that’s better” level of hand warmth, more like “well, that’s something.” 15–20 minutes of useful heat, tops. Don’t count on these for real outdoor survival or long winter walks. Fun as a fidget, and maybe worth tossing in a backpack as an emergency backup, but I ended up switching to an electronic hand warmer for real warmth. Bottom line: Keep them as a science demo or a novelty gift. If you’re hoping for serious heat, look elsewhere. Good stuff, not great stuff—but guaranteed to make you the star of any classroom lesson on phase changes.

Very warm, but understand its use case!
I used to use those disposable handwarmers a lot, and recently made the switch to these. They work well for me when I'm walking my dog, clearing snow, working in my garage, etc. But you should understand their limitations and gauge how you're going to use them. Pros are they are easy to use and get hot almost instantly. If you hold it in your hand while it's activating, you can get it to form in the shape of your hand. I put mine inside my mittens or in my hoodie pocket. However, compared to the disposable ones, they don't last very long. The small ones last about 30-40 minutes, and the big ones last about an hour at most. For that reason, I wouldn't take these for a long day outside, such as a football game (unless I'm planning on bringing a bunch in a bag for backups). Recharging them is also not the easiest thing. You have to boil them for about 8-12 minutes, and you have to make sure they don't touch the bottom of the pan or else the plastic will melt. I put a rag at the bottom of mine. You also have to watch them after you take them out, if they start to form crystals you have to put them back in the water and start over.

Great during Covid
I bought these during Covid because I would bike to work and then be too cold for the forehead thermometer to check that I didn’t have a fever! Gah!! So I bought these and would crack them on as I walked from the bicycle storage to the hospital security guard-I’d have a warmer tucked into my hat so that I had a normal registered temp and could get into work on time! Caution-you want to move the warmer around otherwise you read as “too hot-high temp” and that brings its own set of problems. Great while they were taking temps. Gave them to a hunting friend once covid restrictions were lifted. Once a week I would boil down all the used warmers(in socks to keep from scorching) and be ready for the next week. The hoops we jumped through to take care of patients! Stay healthy and safe.

Not as good anymore :(
Unfortunately, I’ll have to return these. I got them as a gift for my mother. Ages ago, we had a huge set of HotSnapz and they worked so well. Eventually they got really old and stopped working, so I got these as a replacement, expecting them to work just as well. It takes so much more effort to activate these to the point your fingers hurt. and the metal activation disk punctured one of them from the inside. In the past our old hotsnapz hand warmers would activate easily, even just from a bit of rough handling, without actually trying to activate them. Now they’re just mediocre. The heat doesn’t get as high anymore either. I don’t know, it’s just a bummer because we really used to like them. :(

Great product, great value!
So convenient and love that they are reusable. Hot heat lasts about 30 minutes and stays warm for another 30 minutes. Long enough to warm those fingers! Also we use them as a "hot rock" replacement prior to massage! Great product and will definitely buy more for gifts!

leaky and poor customer service
Don't bother, they leaked the first time I re activated them. It leaked everywhere and I let the company know months ago and still haven't had a reply.

Only heats for 10 minutes
I wish i had read the negative reviews before buying. These only heat for about 10 minutes even when starting indoors. Large or small pack makes no difference. I’m surprised they advertise this as lasting 30 min to 2 hours. Usb Rechargeable hand warmers like Ocoopa are much better
