Q: Will this fit the Select Comfort 5000?

Yes it will fit that model. Your purchase will come with a female connector piece, however If you need a male connector piece let us know when you purchase and we will send you a male connector piece separately.

Q: Current matress has a male fitting connecting to the female fitting on the hose. What, if any, adapter do I need?

Steve, Your product will come with a female connector and a male. You will use one or the other for your set up. If your REM Air chamber comes with the female connector already on the hose, you can simply remove it and apply the male connector if needed.

Q: Does it have a way to close a valve to use it not in a bed but for camping?

The purchase comes with a connector that has a stop leak valve. This enables you do disconnect the hose from the air pump without loosing air. However we do not recommend this air chamber being hooked up to a regular air compressor as you could possibly over-inflate the mattress. The air chambers are made to be attached to pumps that are regulated to stop automatically at a certain pressure level so as to not over inflate.
