Very high quality organic coffee. Although it requires finesse.
Excellent bag of coffee. 20g beans brewed at 200ยฐ with a medium/fine grind...creates a lemony, floral, honeyed cup. Drop it down to 195ยฐ, a little finer grind (2-4 clicks), and it turns into a cup of blueberry juice. Pour over is the way to go with this coffee. I used a V60. These light Yirgacheffes really open up in a V60. I was also able to recreate the same flavor cups with an Aeropress, with a little finagling. One of the secrets to light roasted African coffees is to let it sit 3-5 mins after brewing. Cooler temps & minimal agitation really allow the esthers (fruit & berry) to come thru. If you're after that sort of thing. If you treat these light roasted African coffees like a medium, or a dark roast, you probably won't enjoy it very much. They become bitter and sour very quickly. They benefit from an extra long bloom (1:00 min) to de-gas excess Co2. Also worth mentioning is the fact they are so lightly roasted, it leaves a hard brittle bean. Which means when ground, you get a LOT more fines then you would in a darker roast. So you need to be gentle once you add your water, don't agitate more than a few swirls, otherwise the fines will clog your filter, stall out, and over-extract. Hope this helps! Will absolutely buy again!

A good quality East African coffee, at a remarkably bargain price
I've a strong preference for East African coffees (mostly Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania), and I've been drinking them with my breakfast for most of my (50+) adult years. My go-to supplier over recent years has been a Madison (WI) coffee roaster selling online, from whom I've sampled some wonderful coffees and expanded my horizons to (e.g.) Congo and Rwanda. But with the Trump tariffs, the typical cost there has now risen to at least $30-$35 per pound, even when buying only during their frequent "10% off" sales and in sufficient quantities to qualify for free shipping. I discovered the Orinoco Yirgacheffe earlier this year in a local supermarket, on sale in the customary 12 oz packets for ~$18 per pound. The quality and taste were comparable to other supermarket offerings at a similar price point (e.g., Whole Foods Kenya or Ethiopia). When my supplier stopped stocking the Orinoco label, I was sufficiently motivated to look for it online, and delighted to find it available on Amazon directly from the roaster at this remarkable current delivered price of ~$14.60 per pound. A very enjoyable morning coffee, and currently exceptional value for the money.

Awesome sweet and light coffee
We have been buying a Yirgacheffe coffee from another site well known for low acid coffee, and pay $50 for a 12 oz bag of beansโwonderful notes of citrus, berry and tobacco would best describe its aroma and palette. We love that coffee and have not found another Yirgacheffe to compete in flavor and price until we stumbled on this!! We bought the medium roast here which the beans are a uniform light-medium color, no imperfections. While not as much of a sweet tobacco aroma in the bag compared to our $50 bag of beans, it is still there. We did this as an espresso. It is Very bright, rich and creamy, sweet and tastes even better as it cools. When making coffee from whole beans, research what size grind per roast, per variety, per grams of water to grams of coffee, ph of water, water temperature for type of coffee youโre making, ie, pour over, french press, esspresso, drip. Itโs not just grinding coffee and drinking; itโs a skill, an art, requiring practice and lots of taste testing. You get alot of beans here. Get a dark metal airtight can(s) with a rubber gasket latch seal lid. Air and sunlight are bad for the beans. You can freeze it long term (several months) if air tight. You could store batches in zippie bags then altogether in larger airtight freezable container. Take out what you need. Refrigerator can cause staling from condensation on beans and other aromas to soak into beans. Go ahead, try it!!

One of the best beans out there!
What a great coffee bean! Lightly roasted yet packed with intensely smooth flavor! Absolutely no acidity at all-REALLY! I use 10g per cup in my Moccamaster and brew 4 cups at a time. I drink my coffee black to taste all the flavor and purity and this coffee nails it with absolute perfection! Now one of my top 5 favs!

Stale / Bad tasting coffee
Beautiful bag, but coffee was stale and unpleasant. Tried 1 more time tonight and ended up pouring it out it tasted so bad. Brewed it maybe 7 times and 1 time it turned out decent. Definitely not the amazing Ethiopian Yirgacheffe I expected. Plus it was a Christmas present, which just adds to the bummer factor. Maybe I got a bad batch?

A good Yirgacheffe for the money
I am very hard to please when it comes to coffee. Yirgacheffe has been one of my all time favorites and I have tried a few. To me, it is more than just another cup of coffee and a way to start the day. It is an experience that transports me to Africa. I feel like this brand is very good. I love the packaging and design. When you open the bag, the smells are on point. Very fragrant. You can smell the fruit. The colors are nice too. I use a French Press to make the coffee. Nothing too extravagant. Overall, I think this one is good, but it is not the best Yirgacheffe that I have had. Still worth 5 stars for the value though. You can tell that a lot of pride went into making this.

it's not medium-light, it's medium
The quality seems good, but there is no roast date on the bag, and it's definitely a medium roast, not medium-light as advertised.
