Easy to use
Very nice well made thermometer and value for the money, works very well and I like the way the probe unfolds to switch it on and switches off when closed. Very easy to change from C to F. I have 2 now one in the kitchen and one for the BBQ.

Simple to use, compact and with good pre-printed instructions and guides
This is a nice and compact unit. I bought it to use for home baking - I've recently purchased a home bread-maker, and it's only now since reading the instructions that I've realised the importance of accurate temperature control when adding liquids to the bread mix. Previously, I hadn't given temperature much thought - I naively thought that I could just bung in milk at whatever temperature it came out of the fridge, and that my home-made loaf would turn out perfectly. Not so. For the bread mix that I'm using, the milk/water has to be at 30 Degrees centigrade. Exactly. Not 29C, not 31C. It has to be 30C EXACTLY. Otherwise, my loaf will not turn out as intended. Hence my need for an accurate measuring device. This little thermometer has fitted the bill perfectly. In use, it's simplicity itself to use. It switches on when the long probe/tip is folded out, and switches off when it's folded back down. Easy. Want to change from Centigrade to Fahrenheit? Again, easy - a simple button press is all it requires. Want to take the temperature in absolute darkness? (not sure why anyone would want to do this, but hey....). Again easy - just press a button and the display lights up. Is the temperature accurate? No idea. There's no way I could realistically compare it to an absolute figure. But what I can say is that since using the thermometer, the loaves of bread I've made have turned out amazing, and more importantly, have done so consistently. There's a nice little instruction leaflet provided that explains the working of the machine in perfect clarity - this is a nice touch; it's rare to find that nowadays. There's also a really useful fold-out chart giving the correct cooking temperatures for a range of different meats (beef, chicken, pork, etc) and also for different levels of 'doneness' - like medium-rare, well-done, and so on. Again, this is a nice touch, though it's probably something I won't personally use. In some ways, it's a shame that this little gadget is called a 'Meat thermometer'. It's actually much more versatile than that. Certainly, and from my own perspective, it's a perfect bakers companion. And I can see it becoming an increasingly useful tool in my kitchen. Especially since it's so quick and easy to use. This is really a no-brainer. At this price, it's worth every penny. I hope you've found this brief review helpful.

Does the job.
Good value and does the job but not so well constructed. Magnet was helpful until it fell out, and the probe is now a bit loose (after about a year).
