Excellent Laptop, Written by Someone Who Might Be a Bat
I don’t know the technology behind laptops. I don’t understand processors, specs, or what half the letters and numbers mean. What I *can* tell you is this: I’ve been using this Dell 16 Laptop (DC16250-16 FHD+) for about six weeks, and it has quietly and efficiently done everything I need it to do without complaint, which is really all I ask of technology. The battery life is good. It lasts long enough that I forget where the charger is, which feels like the gold standard of modern living. It’s fast, responsive, and doesn’t make me stare at the screen wondering if I’ve accidentally offended it. It doesn't overheat after a solid 10 hours of typing and it was very easy to set up. One of the main reasons I chose this laptop was the backlit keyboard. I usually work in fairly low lighting, and I strongly suspect I may have been a bat in a former life. The glowing keys are perfect, I can see exactly what I’m doing without needing to turn on a big light and ruin the mood (or my night vision). I bought this laptop specifically to write a book, and I am, in fact, writing the book. That feels like the highest possible endorsement. It’s comfortable to use for long stretches, doesn’t distract me with nonsense, and lets me just get on with the job of putting words on the page. I have no complaints. None. It turns on, it works, it holds a charge, and it hasn’t once sighed loudly or frozen at a dramatic moment. For someone who wants a reliable, fast laptop without needing to understand how it all works behind the scenes, this has been a great purchase. Five stars from me, and from my inner nocturnal writer. 🦇✍️

Great laptop at good price
Perfect PC for general home use, or school. Solid, professional construction, bright screen and more than adequate performance from i5 processor.

Good Laptop
Great laptop. Did everything we needed it to do. Ran a few cheeky games too. I used it quite a lot while off sick for steam games streamed from my PC. It was suppose to be for only research. After about 1 year of ownership, we had a power fault, sent it away and the repair centre couldn't fix it so we got a full refund. We were both disappointed and happy, it was like a small Xmas bonus.

Recommending Dell
Didn’t like Microsoft tactics to force the early stand down of Windows 10 but it worked in as much we upgraded to new Dell lap tops (2) with Windows 11. Very pleased with the quality , good value and ease of use.

Not bad but only if it is on sale
Bought for £329 which is about right for this kind of laptop. Performs well enough for day to day use, the iGPU in the Raptor Lake processors is excellent for watching video content as well as encoding. The fan is on the slightly annoying side - I can live with it but it is a bit whiny compared to my previous Lenovo laptop - this may well vary from unit to unit at this price point. The build quality is OK but nothing special. The screen is nice and bright with vivid colours and reasonably good viewing angles. The unit is quite thin and certainly light. Comes with one 16Gb module of DDR4 2666 RAM and a free slot to add another. Despite what Dell's own website states, this free slot will take another 16Gb module. This not only doubles the capacity but also enables dual-channel mode which gives a performance boost.
