But definitely check with them before you try to fly. **Q: Can you wear this on the front as well as the back?** A: Yes you can. The dog will be facing you and you will likely need help clipping the sternum strap. Assume having to keep their tails tucked in would hurt them** A: You should contact K9 directly for a proper answer. I’ve carried my dog for 1/2-1hr in the bag, and it doesn’t seem to affect his tail being tucked in at all. Usually towards the end of the hour, he gets antsy more for his legs being confined than any problems with his tail. I would guess that creating an opening for the tail would have three problems: one would be it weakens the bottom of the bag, reducing the amount of weight/size of dog that could subsequently be carried; the second would be how would you get the tail through the opening. Would you pull the tail straight through? I doubt a dog would like the feeling of that. Would you make the opening big enough to bend the tail through? Now you’re talking about opening the whole bottom of the bag up, and how would you close that up to keep the bottom strong enough to support the weight. Finally, with a tail hanging out, there are all sorts of possibilities of injury to the tail; if you’re riding a bike, would it dangle down to the rear wheel. Could it snag on bushes/branches if you’re out hiking. If you’re in a crowd, is it going to get bumped or grabbed. A dog properly positioned in the bag would not have any weight on the tail, his weight should be on his butt.
