Herbal Formularies for Health Professionals, Volume 1: Digestion and Elimination, including the Gastrointestinal System, Liver and Gallbladder, Urinary System, and the Skin [Stansbury, Jill] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Herbal Formularies for Health Professionals, Volume 1: Digestion and Elimination, including the Gastrointestinal System, Liver and Gallbladder, Urinary System, and the Skin Review: Brilliant - Beautiful book. Heavy vanilla-colored paper. Very informative. I’ve added pics so you can see more into this first volume. I’ll buy one at a time to study each better. This came highly recommended by a fabulous Canadian herbalist for a class. The first lesson on her formulation technique is invaluable. You will need to know your Latin binomials or you’ll have to look them up because that’s how she refers to the herbs. An absolute treasure and so much more than just a book with lists of formulas. It’s also one of the few places that actually gives good info for rosacea. Review: These are the best. - Jill's books are pretty much the best herbal books being written for a modern audience. You can find books from the 1930s that are similar in detail (Scudder, Ellingwood, etc...) but this series is as good as it gets if you want something by a living author. I get it that these are purely aimed at clinical efficacy, but that means there isn't much attention given to sustainability... the perfect formula for a given condition might have herbs in it that are sourced from all over the world and it doesn't take into account their scarcity, endangered status, localization, or cultural significance. Still, I use the info in these books all the time as a resource for helping my patients. They are excellent.

Important Reference Book
There is nothing I dislike about this book. It is bound well and the price is is worth every penny. As a new herbalist working on clinical exams, I have found this book an important reference tool for practice. Formulation is the one aspect of dealing with clients that is most difficult for many and the author makes this knowledge attainable in an orderly fashion that I have not seen in other books. Highly recommend.

Incredible Resource!
First let me say as book lover, this a thoughtful, beautiful (text) book that is well laid out, easy on the eyes (great spacing and font choice), and lovely to navigate. As a student of herbalism, I feel the book is wonderfully priced and the information contained within is thorough but incredibly accessible to a novice or a veteran of the herbal arts. Thank you Jill for this great resource, and I’m looking forward future volumes!

I am a nurse and an acupuncturist. I had also studied naturopathy in Barcelona and I can tell you this is a master piece. It is not only what the content is but also the way is presented. It contains lots of information about plants including references to modern studies, and also traditional uses, different compounds. It also gives you a METHOD how to prepare a herbal formula that is very very helpful. Preparing a herbal formula is not putting herbs together you have to add the main herb/s, a messenger, etc.. and Dr. Stansbury does it perfectly. She also makes comments of herbs used in Chinese medicine and of westerns herbs with the actions of traditional medicine actions. This last part is specially useful for the acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners for we have another approach and in that way we can use the western herbs in the TCM way. All different formulas are explained and can be modified according to someone necessities. From the first page I was learning something new and believe me I have lots of books in herbalism. I am waiting to purchase volume 5 as soon it will be released. I am not overenthusiastic by saying all that I am being very realistic. I have no commission or whatsoever I just want to share my enthusiasm and my gratitude to Dr Stansbury for her titanic effort in writing those volumes. Dr. Stansbury Thank you very much if you read this comment.

Excellent. Ordered the set and will be now be getting a second copy for the clinic so that they don’t pinch mine! Jill has been very generous sharing her knowledge and covers conditions with great sensitivity to the various nuances of illness. It’s very much a formulary rather than a traditional herbal training book. This does assume that the reader has some clinical training/knowledge.
