Do a great job once you address the design flaws!
When they work these are really good, but they have a few design flaws, one of them I consider to be major.1/ Starting with the major flaw. I bought 4 sets of these over a few weeks. The first two seemed ok in this regard, but all the items in the second two sets leaked where the two green parts mate, no mater what I did. I needed these in good time for an upcoming holiday so there was no time to go through the returns/replacement process. I ended up putting a fine bead of external grade silcone sealant where the two green parts meet on the inside (and where there should have been an O-ring seal in the first place in my opinion). This cured this leak immediately! Luckily I have become quite adept with the silicone gun over the years, but even then it made the job take 5 times longer, for the first use anyway. I am applying sealant to the first couple of sets as well, as I replenish the water. Of course this means that I cannot take the inner part away anymore to accommodate a wider neck bottle, but all the bottles I have used so far (large and small UK bottles) seem to fit the smaller neck2/ When screwed onto the bottle, it must not be under- OR over-tightened, otherwise these will leak at the neck of the bottle. It's fiddly at first but I got the hang of the right degree of tightness after a while. TIP: it is advisable to make the hole in the compost/soil using the device BEFORE attaching to the bottle. Then you only need drop the whole thing into the pre-made hole and give it a gentle push to ensure it's firmly home. If you try making the hole afterwards, by wiggling or twisting the bottle, you will likely cause the joint to leak by unintentionally altering the tightness, in one direction or the other!3/ The neck joint will not tolerate any lateral (sideways) pressure or again it will leak. This means ensuring the bottle is placed fully upright and supported where possible, especially outside where they may get blown around in the wind, etc. I make sure the bottle is either resting on the edge of the pot or I tie the bottle to the fence or adjacent object4/ On first use I found that a couple of bottles had collapsed as the water was gradually drawn into the soil. The problem is that the bottle wouldn't retain it's shape any longer. To get around this I have started making a couple of tiny airholes in the base of the bottle, and so far that seems to work. Ok technically not a design flaw, but maybe something to consider including in the instructions (which seem to be aimed at the US market in places)In summary, when you have sorted out the leak issue between the two green parts, got just the right level of tension between the bottle neck and the device, and ensured the whole thing is sitting upright with no lateral forces, they do a great job! I have knocked off a couple of stars mostly because of the unreliability of seal between the two green parts

Not the same as my first set
I’ve been happy with these. I cut the bottom off the water bottles so I can fill with water without removing them. But I’ve just received another set, which have arrived in a plain box, no brand or instructions and a different shape too. The connection between the green plastic and the ceramic part is a bit fragile. I think it will still work, but it appears inferior to the first set. As it was are order, I expected to receive the same item.

Just what the plants needed
Getting ready for the dry summer weather of last year to be repeated : WE got these to ensure we are not caught short. Look great and all ready for when the weather starts to dry out. A good idea we had heard about but not seen. WE decided against the ones to be used with glass bottles because of the animals safety … as people cant be trusted at night not to behave badly and inconsiderately even in good areas where we are they come from out of area .

Easy to use
Brought this timesetl packet 4 plant waterers, I used 3 each with 2lt plastic bottles, into a grow bag. On return from holiday the tomato plants had survived. But the plastic waters had collapsed. This means the plastic bottles might need a small hole to prevent this from happening.

There is a very informative review on this item by a gentleman called Mike. I have had no problem with attaching these to bottles, it is important to not over tighten, be gently. The only issue I had was using collapsible plastic bottles, they did just that....see photos. The water gets trapped at the top and cannot drip out. I’ve decided to try empty wine bottles with a screw top, they will be heavier than plastic but I will lean them against the pots or use a support. The bottles that didn’t collapse worked beautifully and were almost empty after coming back from a week holiday, the plants were moist.

Will not fit onto any bottles!
In theory these shld be great but in practice there are no bottles that will fit into their spikes - I tried orange squash bottle, lucozafe bottle, milk bottle and mouthwash bottle and nothing fits them. All bottles are wrong size fir these spikes
