Review: No Sleep and a Cranky Wife - No one wants to learn from a vacation that your house had squatters when returning. I've never dealt with such problems in adulthood, so naturally I went to my expert friend Google, and compared options. From childhood, I remember being woke up by snapping traps, once hearing a poor trapped thing clatter about when it's tail was caught, but not it's head. Worse was my dad smacking the ground and missing the scrambling thing with his shoe...until he didn't. So these traps sounded like an option that wouldn't keep me up at night or traumatize anyone with bad shoe aim. It did, in fact, keep me up at night (Though thankfully, no whacking with shoes needed) The box arrived around 5:45pm. Do be prepared these take 4 AA batteries each. Luckily, my wife is a hoarder of such goods. The light flicked green, then the thing went dormant. So dormant, I wondered if it was working. But I figured I had nothing to lose leaving them down, and I could always send them back if they didn't work. Of course, like any impulsive purchase made after one raving review, I found some less-than-savory ones, so I began to worry. You also need peanut butter. For full disclosure, I found some old "Jif" in my pantry which we used. I had no need to worry. We camped in the living room, owing to our sheets and bed needing cleaning from our squatter problem. I was up late, listening to the patter of tiny squatters, and finally forced myself to sleep. I hit that right state of sleep that it's rude to wake someone during, when a loud buzz woke me. No squeak, no squeal, just a clear electric buzz for almost 10 seconds. I turned to my nearest trap, and when the buzz stopped, a green light went off. So I drug myself off the couch at 12:30am, found some gloves, and went for the trap. Sure enough, when I got to my outside dumpster, I dumped the cartridge to a satisfying *thump*. I hadn't check earlier if there was indeed a corpse, not wanting to actually see my victim's remains. But that's not all. I go back inside, checked the batteries in the device (still strong), and put the trap back where I had ensnared a squatter. That's when I saw it. The second trap had a green light. My wife then says, "I have work tomorrow, turn the light of and go to bed." Like any husband, I was so focused on one task I hadn't processed her words yet, and I stared to see the green light blink again. I sigh, luckily not having removed the gloves yet, and went for the second device. I go outside, and I'm met with a neighborhood stray cat. He looks at me, and I at him. He seemed to know what I carried, and I made a questionable choice. I dumped the cartridge toward him, and the cat ran off with it's prize. I only realized later, I probably shouldn't have paid it for my de-mousing the neighborhood. So I returned, ready for some sleep. Indeed one I thought was my phone vibrating, and the other was my dog bolting up and barking (The second thoroughly irritating my already irritable wife, who had work in 2 hours and had only small sleep thanks to this purchase). All told, I write this 12 hours from the delivery of the box, and 7 of my squatters have had a shocking end of life experience. I hazarded a glance in my trash can this morning, finding 6 varying mouse bodies when I just made the last dump a few minutes ago. I can confirm what was trapped was indeed the vermin who thought our vacation would be theirs as well. Let me pause to say I think the number just went to 8 as I write this, as that was not my phone vibrating. So I shall conclude with this as I need to don more gloves and check another device. After finding our home alarmingly invaded, these devices kept us from sleeping, made my wife cranky, and helped reclaim our home from squatters. While I feel sorry for my wife's co-workers who must deal with her on minimal sleep after a vacation, I do not feel bad for my purchase. All 8 batteries spent (4 per trap) are still going strong, and if you're squeamish there's no need to look. Simply pick up the device, power it down, and open the hatch when only over a trashcan. I would probably bag the bodies if you don't have outside receptacles, as these things can carry nasty diseases. The only way these could be better is if they would scrub my house free of the squatter's trash and feces, as I've been told is my job today by a very cranky and sleep deprived wife.
Review: Most excellent! Comparison of the older one and the newer one. Both work really well! - I've been buying Victor electronic mouse traps for around two decades. They sure do work! There are some differences between the older model 250S and the newer model 250B. The older model would blink green and buzz when you turned it on. It also blinked green and buzzed when a mouse was in the trap. The newer one does not have a buzzer; it does blink green 3 times when you turn it on, and blinks every ten seconds when there's a mouse. But no buzzer. Probably an improvement, since the buzzer can scare away other mice. Also, the older model was loaded with batteries from the back of the unit, while the newer one loads on the bottom of the unit. It's actually much easier to load batteries with the newer model, BUT unless you're using peanut better, any seeds or pellets will fall out of place unless you load the batteries before you load the food. You will get mice very quickly, usually overnight the first night. Don’t put them out in the open. Mice like walls. Every once in awhile there's a false flag and the mouse somehow is able to jump back in time, but not very often. When there's a green light blinking, the likelihood that a mouse is in there is around 95%. Peanut butter works real good. I use a butter knife to scoop up a teeny bit, pea size or smaller, and shove it off the knife using a spoon or another knife. It's okay to get some on the back wall of the unit, because mice will go there first and lick it, and then have to explore and find the door to get more, and then, zap. You don't have to clean the peanut butter off every time. If there's still peanut butter, just leave it and re-set the trap. You need to be careful to clean any peanut butter off the metal plates. I use a paper towel and Q-tips. AND here's the important thing - a dead mouse will stay in there for months until you collect it, but it's likely to leave dead smell and debris in the chamber. So the thing to do is make sure you check for the green light every day and empty it. If you leave it too long, you might wind up with a mess in the compartment that can't be cleaned, and then you'd have to ditch the trap. Oh yeah, be sure to wear disposable gloves whenever you deal with the trap, because if you touch it with your hands, then you sent will be on the trap, and the smart mice won’t come near it. If there were one thing I'd improve with the trap is the mouse compartment door doesn't open quite wide enough to carefully put the peanut butter in there. It’s a little awkward to get a knife in there and deposit the peanut butter carefully in the designated spot at the back. You want to avoid getting anything on the metal plate or it might not zap. Use a Q-tip if you get anything on the metal plate. The door does open wide enough to discard the mouse; just turn it over inside a bag, and you won't have to look too closely at the mouse. I am still using the older 250S model, although the "refills" for the mouse compartment are not longer available through Victor or third-party vendors. The newer 250B model does not have a "refill" for the mouse compartment but it zaps mice just as well, except you have to get rid of the mouse the next day; you can't just throw a refill away like with the older model.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Mouse trap ever!!!

This is the absolute best mouse trap I have ever tried; bar-none period (it's even your better than your beloved pussy cat) in every way that I can think of besides the fact that it does cost money. The trap is easy to bait, easy to set, and easy to dispose of the dead mice (which will be every single one you need to eliminate)! They will be caught/killed 99.9% of the time without much of mess besides a drop or two of mouse pee every now and then, which can be rinsed out easily. It will even kill those little pesky bastards that repeatively out-smart your conventional spring-type traps. I have been having 100% success using pretzel sticks and peanut butter. I first use one pretzel stick to scoop out a pea-sized bit of peanut butter. Next I break that part off and put it in the bait cup instead of using only peanut butter like the instructions say. Next, I use the remainder of that one pretzel stick (broken into pieces) to make a little bait trail leading to the trap with one piece placed in the trap entryway just before it is totally out of sight. After he/she has devoured the my free offerings, they will start to smell the irresistible aroma of peanut butter. As they chomp on my final tasty gift and go a little bit further past a partition wall inside the trap, they will finally see that the food that is creating such a delicious the smell does exist just ahead. At this precise moment in this process, I bet every would-be victim is overcome with a sudden, uncontrollable desire to greedily start gorging themselves on this unbelievable bounty presented before them. However upon taking the small step in order to reach this fabulous feast, the victim has unknowingly stepped on the second metal pad (closing an electrical circuit) which leads to an instantaneous deadly flow of electricity through their body. The electrocution process is silent and happens at speed of light without any lengthy wait on death row or even having any chance of a last minute pardon (unless you forget to turn the trap on or have weak batteries! But all jokes aside, it sounds pretty violent but the tiny mouse is dead instantaneously and he/she probably never knew what the hell happened, but YOU WILL....no more filthly, disease carrying mouse! Only thing left to do now is empty or replace (at a cost) the death chamber, re-bait, and get ready to give many more heartfelt goodbyes to the rest of the mouse's family!! However, my experience has been that re-baiting is usually unnecessary; as long as your first offering is still good and fresh. Needless to say, but as a reminder, the trail of pretzels I suggested will ALWAYS need to be replaced but by no means necessary in order to have success. The main reason that I like to put the extra bit of luring bait to see if it's there later thus reporting to me whether or not all the mice have been eradicated, since hungry mice absolutely cannot resist the fragrant temptation of pretzels and peanut butter. There are only 2 reasons that I can think of why mice wouldn't want to endulge themselves with this irresistible bait combination is because either they're not hungry at the time or they are not in house anymore (which is preferred IMO)! The extra baiting around the trap is really more of a mouse presence indicator for me and not required to rid your home of pests. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this trap. It's worth every stinking penny and I don't brag on many products or leave a lot of positive reviews unless I feel it will be beneficial to others. Boy, I really wish I was the one that invented this or that I could buy stock in this (either way, I would be wealthy)!!! All of my life I've heard people say that you can't build a better mouse trap! After using this one, I would have to respond by saying, "YES you absolutely CAN and Victor has done it even better with their second attempt some 100+ years later!! Now even you will be able to confidently say, "Death to all you nasty, scurrying,##@@@, $$##@@, mice!!! I WILL get you _______ now!" Or whichever descriptive words work for you. Haha
