Region Codes: All DVDs have embedded region codes, these codes are separated and administrated by geographic location (donโt forget to check our description before purchasing). Region 1: USA & Review: Very good - I had read quite a varied range of praise and criticism of the movie before I purchased the blu ray. I neednโt have worried. It is very good. Entertaining, funny, sometimes a little scary, the film points the way forward for Studio Ghibli. The CGI animation is beautifully done. Recommended. Review: Uniqe animation that paid off - I'd heard that the animation to this film was greatly dissaproved by many seasoned studio ghibli watchers. However, I loved the animation to this, it was fun and a little different from the norm. The story isn't ground breaking or overly emotional as you might expect from a ghibli but I loved it's simplicity and charm. Erica/Earwig is so adorably cheeky at getting what she wants that you can't be mad at her, naughty in a nice way would describe her best. The supporting characters were also unusual, Bella Yaga and The Mandrake are both on the creepy side but I'd say that The Mandrake shows signs of affection towards Erica/Earwig early on, but Bella Yaga takes more time to come around to Erica/Earwig. I'd say that Thomas and Erica/Earwig share a special friendship and I really enjoyed their humorous chemistry. The steelbook is great, it has a picture from the movie inside and the look of the steelbook is very sleek. Overall I was impressed by the movie and I think it's a fun watch for all ages.

Groundbreaking Ghibli
I really cannot understand the critical negativity towards this superb Goro Miyazaki film, unless it's a question of objections to its faithful rendering of the "Englishness" of Diana Wynne Jones's story. Some Americans probably find the idea of a Ghibli feature embracing 1970s shepherd's pie, fried bread and fish-and-chips impossibly alien, and not what they're used to from Japanese anime. Because of this English focus and - wonderfully rich - CGI style, "Earwig and the Witch" somehow has more in common with Wallace and Gromit than with "Howl's Moving Castle", but it is none the worse for that. It depicts a nostalgic rock-era England beautiful to look at, wonderfully-detailed and lovingly recreated, while the witchy story is as elegantly told as you'd expect from Ghibli. It's a tight, "chamber" piece with only a few characters, all drawn in fantastic depth, and dominated by a heroine who is manipulative, clever and cunning by terms - unusually "uncute" and utterly enchanting! I had not expected much from this overlooked Goro Miyazaki film, and was completely gripped by it at ever turn. Like his "Up Poppy Hill", "Earwig and the Witch" is fully up to Ghibli's highest standards. A feast for children of any age, from seven to seventy-seven and beyond.

Not a bad film
At first I thought it was rubbish, but it's not too bad a film i guess. Importantly my son loves it
